Breaking News: Patrick Watling re-signs for Sheffield Steelers - Confirmed
GAME THREAD: Steelers v Flames: CUP: Sat 21st Sep
Moderator: Mods
Thanks Bryan, hopefully I'll get to see more play than last time I went when it rained all day.
My mates will all be there Saturday night, so I'm sure they'll be keeping me up to date with the happenings at the Arena whilst I'm on my trains back to North Sheffield.
Regards

I assume Fox will stick with the forward lines which have performed so well in the CHL:
Balmas/Watling/Leavens
Juusola/Dowd/Vally
Ciampini/Simpson/Janatuinen
I guess with the import restrictions in the EIHL it will be Miceli who misses out, unless there is injury or illness within the team.
The 4th line will likely be:
Shudra/Whistle/Ulrick
Did anybody get those lines pre-season?
With Janatuinen hitting a bit of form, they look 4 very solid lines. So far you'd probably say that line 1c has been our best in the CHL, which has to be a worry for our opponents considering how good 1a and 1b are.
My big concern is the come down from the CHL. To compete in that competition the players had to be mentally switched on 100% of the time. It would be quite understandable if they relaxed a little and partly switched off for the EIHL.....we shall see.
Hopefully a successful banner raising evening.

Suspect you are right on the lines. It's not a million miles from what I thought we would run with - my main question was whether it would be Janatuinen or Miceli or Vally who would be the spare, but given how well Vally and JJ (easier to type!) have played, that decision kind of makes itself at the moment.Doom wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 6:08 amI assume Fox will stick with the forward lines which have performed so well in the CHL:

To have Champ/Simpson/JJ as a third line, is frankly quite ridiculous. Shows just how stacked we are, and to me, we're on par with Belfast in the forward stakes. D and NM is where I think we have a slight edge.
If JJ keeps up his CHL form, he's going to score an awful lot of points this year.
Sure Guildford don’t need any further motivation, but raising the banners might add some more.
Whilst it might be a different topic, I don’t believe the banners should be raised on a regular game. Why not raise them on the shirt launch night now that the shirt launch has expanded to the arena? I also think the banners should be in the arena roof not the concourse.
As for the game. I’m sure we’ll get some split net minding duties over the weekend. Greenfield to start this one.
6-2 easy win Steelers.

Traditionally in hockey (certainly across the pond) banner raising has always been a pre-game ceremony - usually at first home regular season game.smbmetal wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 11:01 amSure Guildford don’t need any further motivation, but raising the banners might add some more.
