So anyone can now ask for a refund from Nottingham Arena. or tickets transfer to the Magic weekend of "5 Derby games" replaces the playoffs provisionally 12/13 September

https://twitter.com/officialEIHL/status ... 0882152449

we were away for the playoffs but personally we'd be asking for a refund if we were.

also there aren't 5 Derby's in the EIHL. we#re obviously playing Nottingham (Again) so of the extra games we play another Arena team and Cardiff and Belfast don't .

Sounds a good initiative. Don't think many will leave their tickets mainly down to the exact nobody knows when sports will be up and running. Can see it selling well when there's a date though.

Would be excellent to have a money spinner at each end if the league season, allows league to invest in areas such as officiating and technology.

I guess the one question for me is how the Midlands/North games will split? We could play either Manchester or Nottingham, with Coventry playing the club we don't play.

Other games I guess will be
Dundee v Fife
Glasgow v Belfast
Guildford v Cardiff.

Just can't see this working! Why would I travel down form Dundee or Balfast to see my team play Fife early on Saturday, then stay over night and watch two games that I'm not interested in?? the added cost and lack of interest in the other game would put me completely off! It's only one game of a 50 odd game season so why would I pay all that money out?
I'm a Steelers fan so it's just like another game down the road, back home after the game no point in staying and watching the other games?? pointless!
Put a trophy on the line and have a play off type weekend and it gets more interesting, but 10 teams over 2 days the equation doesn't work.
I'd go for a 3v3 round robin with 2 semi finals and a final, adopting the rolling clock format, you could even have a loosing group a 'step-ladder' like they do in Tenpin bowling.

Yet fans from all teams turn up for the POW even if their team isn’t playing. At least at a magic weekend all the games will be competitive, unlike the third place Sunday game at the POW. The EIHL has been hit hard losing the end of its season and the money spinner that is the POW. They need the revenue and this is the best way to regain some of it at the start of the season. The magic weekends have become an integral part of rugby’s Super league and are always well attended. I can see it becoming a regular part of the EIHL’s season in the future.

The Play off weekend is an accumulation of games played over the season, with the finalist's not known until the weekend before, so most fans book tickets in advance hoping their team makes the final 4. This is nothing like that and never will be in its present format!
Make it fun, exciting and above all entertaining, so all who attend get a chance of watching their team compete over the full weekend.

Just to confirm my idea would be to have 2 teams from each team = 20 teams in total, 2 groups who play each other in a league structure , with the top 8 playing off in a knockout through to the final game.

3v3 with a rolling clock.
Teams could have 9/10 players (3 lines)

Just an idea!
