I've said it over on the Steeltalk chat room, Greenfield is a major keystone for Sheffield Steelers and undoubtedly he will be getting plenty of attention from european teams at what will be a better wage, he deserves to ask for increase on his wages as his worth to the team grows and if Fox has to use some money from the wage he was spending on Marrone (he wasn't cheap from my recollection) to keep hold of Greenfield, then to me that is a great move... Tony was a dam good keeper and it would have been great to keep him, but not at the cost of losing Greenfield...

I was a big fan of Morrone and would have liked to see him stay in the EIHL. In fact I’m surprised another EIHL club has not tried to sign him. I’m sure he’ll do well in Europe. But as you say Jay not at the expense of Greenfield who is number 1 on my want to return list.Jayboy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 11:39 amI've said it over on the Steeltalk chat room, Greenfield is a major keystone for Sheffield Steelers and undoubtedly he will be getting plenty of attention from european teams at what will be a better wage, he deserves to ask for increase on his wages as his worth to the team grows and if Fox has to use some money from the wage he was spending on Marrone (he wasn't cheap from my recollection) to keep hold of Greenfield, then to me that is a great move... Be interesting if Fox goes for a dual import netminder set up again for this season, or whether he gives the Brit goalies a chance.
Disappointing to see Morrone leave, but you can't blame the guy, he was outstanding when he played for us and quite rightly wants more ice time.
I'm hoping this means that Greenfield will be returning, because if he wasn't I would have thought at the very least Fox would have offered Morrone split netminding duties and even possibly made him the number one.
It will be interesting to see how Morrone progresses behind a different defence. If I recall correctly he had a 100% win record for us, which is quite incredible.

Excellent news.
Our top points scoring defenceman and a superb passer.
His +/- have always been very good in Europe, so the larger ice obviously suits his game.
Delighted to see him back.

I think this was definitely one of the more guaranteed returnees, but still a great signing. Playoffs he was absolutely outstanding, and probably our best D throughout the 2 weekends. He'd been great for the regular season, but he just took a step up.
Ciampini next please!
