It's a very tough run-in but we just need to take one game at a time. This team has plenty of character. We can do itBontSteeler wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 5:19 pmThe 1 thing I noticed with the Steelers fixtures at the end of the season is the last 4 games are all away from home
31st March : Manchester
5th & 6th April : Belfast double header
8th April : Fife
We've got 10 EIHL fixtures left.
7 are away from home with just 3 left at home.
The home ties are :
16th March : Panthers
24th March : Flames
30th March : Devils
By no stretch are the games we have easy, in fact I always find that towards the end of the season games get harder especially when chasing down a League Title.

That's the point I keep making, we do have an incredibly tough run in compared to Cardiff, so we're going to need those 11 extra points we have banked.BontSteeler wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 5:19 pmThe 1 thing I noticed with the Steelers fixtures at the end of the season is the last 4 games are all away from home

We should still do it fairly comfortably though, because not only do we only require 1 point per game, that also assumes Cardiff will win all their games, which is unlikely.
I do think though if we have a bad weekend like the one coming up against Nottingham/Coventry, it will get incredibly tense again.
Out of interest I did put all our remaining games and those of Cardiff on to a spreadsheet and made my prediction of how the results will go. Based on my predictions we'll be able to win the title at the home game against Cardiff....we shall see.
I'll update my predictions with actual results to see how things change. I've currently got us finishing on 88 points and Cardiff on 80 points, assuming we split the two games between us.

For Cardiff it's simple , they have to believe they must win every game and hope other results go their way, I'd rather be in our position than theirs, Imagine thinking we had to win all our remaining games, that is a lot of pressure.

Cardiff know they’re still well in the hunt and will be piling on the pressure by continuing to win. I don’t see them losing many. I would be very worried if we go into those last 2 in Belfast needing something.

Win in Coventry & a regulation win in Cardiff & Devils can only tie our points total. Whilst not officially champions in reality we will be!
Steelers then on 81 points, Devils can only achieve 81 winning out!
Looking closer we have 34 regulation wins + Cardiff would make 35
Devils have 26 with 9 games to play - lose against us would only give 8 further regulation wins - total 34
So win next 2 games either regulation or overtime in Coventry & a regulation win in Cardiff - that’s the title!

It's unlikely given league form and standings but there is always a chance, there isn't that much between the teams if one of them doesn't perform. Cardiff are under tremendous pressure, they can't afford to lose points and last night won't have helped.Jimmy o wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2024 10:19 amOf course there is a chance.
