I was always worried about this weekend after the CC win.
Cardiff bombed against us after they won it and no doubt we were well off of our game tonight.
Fortunately we still had enough quality to scrape past a weakened Panthers team.
For me it was always about the 2 points rather than the performance and Cardiff dropping a point was the Brucie Bonus.
The only out skater I thought was really on his game was Cormier, what a smooth skater he is in transition.
Nearly there, but not quite yet..
Regards

All things considering thats a big win tonight. 2 average looking teams on the ice but a welcome 2 points. Never been a fan of overtime, to me any league games that are level after 60 should just be a point each and thats it end of

Now to me thats where I dont agree, well I sort of do, but let me explain. obviously we didn't play well in terms of a all out there performance.SteelerBlade wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 9:32 pmNothing to shout about in terms of performance but another 2 points and point gained on Cardiff.
That's not what you saw tonight I agree...
but what we did see is every last man of them left everything on the ice.. We were out on our feet at the end and yes that has to be said was probably due in different ways down to wednesday nights efforts and over celebrations long into the night.. But who would begrudge them that!
Cardiff wasnt out on the lash were they? yet they just lost on penalties to Fife..
To me that performance tonight is the type of performance that wins championships, not blowing away a dundee or a Fife on a single game night weekend... that win shows character by the bucket load and look what it meant to Dowdy when he scored... not one of us would have blamed them for a loss tonight in reality..
You could say that was a brilliant Performance, not in the traditional sense but to me more import.

Not a very good game but a character win. We could easily have capitulated at 2-1 but the determination to level the game shows how this team recognises the need to keep the points tallying in order to achieve the greater goal.
Fife took points off us but they’ve also done us a favour denying Cardiff both points tonight. I hope they make the playoffs. I like the character of their coach and what he’s done to make them a more competitive outfit.

Easy to put on a flashy performance when everything is running smooth and the opposition is playing poor, Nottingham are fighting for their playoff place and I doubt many of our guys have got the alcohol out of their systems from Wednesday night. This team found enough to get a result tonight, that's how you earn a league title, by winning the hard games, not just the easy ones.

Give some credit to Nottingham too - they were short benched on D and had an obvious game plan to help cover that. They were really disciplined in keeping us to the outside in their zone, and hoped to try and capitalise on any mistakes we made. We dominated possession but couldn't break them down often enough to generate grade A chances.
Actually thought it was a decent game, even though we weren't at our best. I actually think we'll be better tonight in Coventry, but just a question of how much left in the tank

I am in two minds about the game. On one hand I found it quite frustrating and they were struggling with giving and receiving passes, yet on the other hand they stuck at it and got the win (eventually). I am going to take the positives though because we got the points in a game that we could have so easily lost, and Cardiff dropping a point was the icing on the cake. Not pretty, but a hard fought win. Well done boys!
