Just watched a game in the Czech Republic and the officials are no better, my word it was rough.

That's why import refs are risky, could end up paying yearly salary for no increase in quality.

Thing is though, there's hardly any decent officiating talent in the system.

Ever since the EIHL decided to go full time with 4 officials and promote some linos to be the ones with the armbands (names such as Rose and Dalton come to mind for me), it's gotten worse. Sewell was supposed to be the next good thing, even referred in North America for a spell, but that's dropped off.

They'll soon have to replace Toby Craig who I think is in his early 50s. Thank heavens we don't have a compulsory retirement age like they do in football.

Got to say I’ve been thinking for a while whether booing the officials at the start of the game as some fans do in the Arena, has a positive or negative effect on their attitude towards our team.

Is this something other fans do across the league (I don’t travel away)?

If it were me, even though I’d know I’d need to be impartial, I do think it could affect my judgement.

Boo the bad/missed calls ok. It may make them think, did I get that wrong? Or after a bad game, but before the puck’s been dropped??

The late Matt Suderman was not a big fan of the EIHL officials allegedly as rumour has it that it was one of the reasons he quit the Stingrays way back in 2013.

Only just seen this clip last night from the NHL a couple of weeks ago, and a ref was looking right at it, nothing happened!

If it carries on like so, then players will just take matters into their own hands literally speaking.

Should be instantly demoted in favour of an AHL ref.

After all, doesn't the PL demote Select Group 1 referees if they're assessed to be below par? Am sure they do if I'm not mistaken.
