Gonna be interesting to see who Fox sits out next weekend. Unless his hand is forced due to an injury he's got a tough call to make.

What a great game!!

First game of the season for us and an absolute corker!
Great come back from Steelers at 3-1 down, but apart from a blip in the 2nd (Tansey and Saucerman PK's), it seemed to be wave after relentless wave of Steeler offensive action.
A great couple of PK's as well, so that looks promising.

Only weak link i saw was ~55 Kielly - can't say i was impressed with him last niht if i'm honest. Watling was fantastic.

Lovely to meet the team after the game too (outside the bus). Big thank you to Petgrave for the warm up pucks for my boys and to Saucerman being the consummate professional when some local Devils fan had a go at Sauce outside for Tansey's 'disgusting beahvour' in the game....

Looking forward to a great season!!

Replay of the boarding penalty https://twitter.com/NoContextStlrs/stat ... 9970967946
I'm probably wearing orange tinted glasses but I don't see a great deal wrong with that hit.
I think the zebra's saw the amount of blood on the ice and called it from that..... not saying they were right though!

There was a fair bit of blood - scraping didn't get it off, they had to use a weird petrol powered mower thing which cut deep into the ice and then relay the ice on top of it!

It was a slightly dodgy hit, Tansey needs to be careful, especially with UK officiating, but a game misconduct was probably a little harsh.

By the rulebook, if you deem it a penalty, it has to be a major because of the blood (only high sticks different, mainly because majority are accidental).

Essentially the same hit that Sam Jones got a minor for in the 1st game against Nottingham. Borderline but understand why penalty called. Barrow put himself in a very vulnerable position when he knew Tansey was coming in, 20 years ago it wouldn't have been called (player also would have just accepted they were going to be hit), but it's probably a penalty in today's game.

Cardiff forum is hilarious reading - Tansey hit being made out to be one of the worst ever :D

I know we all like to defend our team, but EIHL fans properly need to calm down (and pick up a rulebook occasionally).

Really good win for the guys! watched the Tansey incident a few times and I know I wasn't there but! I can't see a lot in it? its looks like a forearm
to the back but its hardly a major?? Barrow seems to be very close to the joint between the plexiglass, I wonder if that's how he got the cut? Perhaps others that were closer can provide more details. I'm only going on what I could see!!

I don't think Tansey had an malicious intent, it was just a hard hit into the boards with his elbow a bit too high, knocking Barrow forwards and down.

Just watched the stream and played the Tansley incident several times. I think it was clumsy rather than malicious but his forearm did seem to make contact with the head and press it into the plexi, probably at a joint. Just unfortunate but we would probably have called for a major if was on one of our players. You can see it either way. It definitely a pen. Then the blood on the ice has to be taken into account. Shame for Tansley. He looks a good find.

What a good overall performance. Players seem to be finding each other. Watling looks as if he will become the fans favourite this year. He seems to have everything in his game.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect 1 win this weekend given how far in preparation Cardiff are compared to us. This is a really good sign.

Only preseason, but to split the weekend with Nottingham last week and win both games against Cardiff is some doing.
This pretty much sums it up for me.

Cardiff were far more prepared that us and we managed to beat them twice and looks like there’s some natural rilvary been created.

An excellent pre-season which I hope is carried on when the real stuff starts.

We’ll need to be at that level consistently all season if we want silverware.
