So with the max Imports dropping by one next season do we need to recruit another higher-end brit or will be give the kids more ice time do you think?

we've 4 brits who actually get some ice time now all in their 30's to varying degrees. Then there's Shudra has started to get more ice time of late but still not loads The others have got next to no game time when they have been here.

Jonno may well retire at the end of the season although he's still good/quick enough to go another year. Dowd has had some bad injuries the last few years and they get harder and harder to recover from as he gets older.

I actually think all 4 will still be here next season but as the years pass we do need to start looking at the next generation of brits...assuming they don't change the definition of who is a Brit post leaving the EU.

so do we need another brit or will the kids take up the space.

the kids will play!

Can see Brown and Shudra definitely playing regular minutes Fox has spoken highly of Graham so far as well and Griffin looked good in pre-season too so we may see him more next season too!

With Kerlin / Warburton as the U23 GB goalie.

Fox (and the players) have all talked about the league being like a play off series and not really being able to take a night off.
I think that although we will probably look to stick with the young players we have and develop them, their ice time may be limited as we play more 3 line hockey.
Bringing in a experienced Brit will be expensive, the money would be better invested in a quality import - at least that’s my view.
Next year I think JP will anchor our 3rd line and we rotate the youngsters around him. He’ll stay on the PK too.

I think Shudra is more than good enough to fill that void with a regular shift.

Players like Ferrara will be in high demand. Cardiff rumoured to be interested.

I thought the import limit was staying the same? Just that you couldn’t bring loads of replacements like we’ve done this year?

If it’s dropped by one then firstly we’ll be told that the EIHL is amazing and the best it’s ever been, when IMO it continues to go backwards and will do if the import limit is dropped.

I believe it's dropping from 14 to 13

There’s a decent Brit not doing to bad in Coventry? 🤔

You have to take bench size rules into accounts also. If we keep the 2 Phillips dowd and o Conner we can’t play another over 25 Brit. You can have 13 imports 4 over 25 brits the rest have to be under 25 with a full bench of 20.

This will not improve the quality of the EIHL. Yes, some of the under 23 Brits will get more of a chance, but this doesn’t improve the quality of hockey on show IMO.

I think this rule has been made for the benefit of the smaller teams. I’m afraid I see this as another backwards step for the EIHL in terms of the quality of hockey. Looks like my money will be staying firmly in my pocket.

I said at the time that releasing Ferrara would come back to bite us. He was a young man who wanted to play for the Steelers but Thompson chose to release him. Is it too late to get him back? Probably.
