A long wait for this announcement feels to me to have fallen flat. I had thought and hoped this would be a standout but it’s rather an indifferent selection. Let’s hope for a better outcome. I fear our coach has not yet convinced me of his recruitment nous. I cant see this team winning the league. Maybe with a bit of luck one of the other cups.

We just don’t know how any new signing will turn out until he’s played a few games. Even then there’s no guarantee the form will be sustained.
As long as Josh racks up the points I don’t care if he scores them or makes them. I hope he’ll prove the doubts are wrong.

Certainly not the name I thought we would be announcing but once I saw his name doing the rounds I was convinced it was him.
Welcome to Sheffield first of all Josh, you will I'm sure as many other players in the past have fall in love with the place.
Looking at his stats it would appear to be a little underwhelming like a few of our signings this season definitely seems to be a bit of risk with them coming off seasons with very little scoring output. I thought I would have a quick look at our previous KHL quality signing in Nikolai Lemtyugov and stats seem similar possibly not as many games played but I could see him putting up similar numbers.
Either way I'm looking forward to seeing Josh on the ice with the rest of the team. Hopefully we have a relatively injury free season and can push on in the new season and get over that post christmas hangover that we always seem to go through!

Pretty happy with this signing. Not very often you can sign a player straight from the KHL. And you don’t play at that level if you’re not a very good player.
I know the ‘elite prospect coaches’ aren’t happy with his production last couple years, doesn’t say what role he was playing though in those stats. I personally think he will be a ppg player this season in our top6 in the EIHL, and he’s 31 too so not too old. Another risk forward maybe but time will tell.

I had a read of The Cage last night after their latest signing and in comparison this forum is really positive.
A lot of them really don't like the clubs recruitment and are struggling to find any positives.
They probably do lack a bit of size in their forwards, but on paper I think they've got a decent squad which will be very competitive.
In Rok they have a netminder who has proved himself in this league.
Their defence looks solid, although I prefer ours.
There's a number of their forwards I'd love to have in our team, including Lemay, Roy and Niemenen (I think he could turn out to be one of the best in the league).
Their final signing is also rumoured to be Adam Johnson, who would have one of the best CV's in the league.
I'm not sure I get their negativity, but I guess after last season they're always going to be a bit cautious with most signings.

I'd agree on Lemay and Niemenan, and if it is Adam Johnson then that looks a good first line. Hugo Roy looks ok, but definitely 2nd line. Given we (roughly) will have a second line full of players who are now known quantities (Ciampini Neumann and Allen), I'm happier with our line upDoom wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 10:10 amI had a read of The Cage last night after their latest signing and in comparison this forum is really positive.

Rok is solid, but would take Greenfield over him. Also prefer our D. Lunsjo I think is in the similar vein as Juusola - could rip the league or just be decent, with reality probably somewhere in the middle.
If they do sign Johnson, I would be a little jealous though, as that's a heck of a CV
