I thought so too! It sounds like he’s not too sure perhaps he’s coming back mid season in a reffing capacity to pull the league up by its bootstrapspaul johnston wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 4:50 pmI thought the arrogant, big time Charlie was too big and too good for this league so thought he was certain to make it elsewhere and wouldn't need an option to come back to the UK with his tail between his legs!!House_of_Steel wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 2:35 pmScott Conway has signed in Slovakia, with the option to rejoin Belfast mid season should it not work out for him in Europe.

How does that work with the so called wage agreement?House_of_Steel wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 2:35 pmScott Conway has signed in Slovakia, with the option to rejoin Belfast mid season should it not work out for him in Europe.
Conway would be on huge money, so does this mean Belfast have to hold a chunk of their wages back just in case?
I'm not seeing them cutting their cloth at the moment. Based on CVs, I'd suggest they're the biggest spenders to date.

Really don’t know Doom just a rumour off the usual twitters accounts. With regards to the salary cap I can’t see anyone holding Belfast to account they will just use the excuse their in the CHL and it’s been a draw to normally unattainable higher quality players, also the usual dodges around salary caps, whatever the situation there is, big money definitely been spent you don’t retain the players they have and attract similar stat new ones on a shoestring.Doom wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 8:37 pmHow does that work with the so called wage agreement?House_of_Steel wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 2:35 pmScott Conway has signed in Slovakia, with the option to rejoin Belfast mid season should it not work out for him in Europe.

He recently tweeted ‘see you soon EIHL’ and then someone noticed he was following the Giants on social media. Maybe he’s just joking about, but would be some signing if he did come over and play regardless of his past injuries….

He is a Stanley Cup Winner too.
It wasn’t that long ago that we were accused of very much the same. Stones and glass houses come to mind here.House_of_Steel wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 12:48 amReally don’t know Doom just a rumour off the usual twitters accounts. I’ve got absolutely no issue with how Belfast are going about their business. The better the player that comes to the EIHL the better the league.
Belfast are showing the ambition that the Steelers lack under current ownership.

Earlier post was incorrect regarding Mark Cooper, he hasn't re-signed it was in fact Oliver Cooper who is a new signing to the team and the league.
With regards Conway he won't be the first player to have tried Europe and maybe not enjoy it, language barrier, off ice issues such as doesn't like the city travel etc so keeping his options open.
Similar to Vallerand returning to the Steelers when it wasn't working out for him last year, if the Giants need to cut someone to bring him in then I trust Keefe will make he right decision on what's best for the club and any club in our league would snap your hand off to have him in your side.
