Poor from us tonight. No energy and when we did get two goals we just fired at the goalie with easy shots.

Having heard on the way home that Petgrave was abused again last night in Manchester I think it's playing on his mind. That's 3 times in almost as many away games. He also took a whack on the wrist from a puck in the 1st.

I'm still not sure what Mitchell brings compared to Raska.

Conns also a miss tonight.

I agree we needed to come out and play from the beginning, not when we were 2 goals down.
Can anyone tell me who was the D man who pushed up when Guildford scored their 3rd goal ?

Disappointing result but a good game over all. Guildford are deservedly competing for top spot. They’re fast, skilful, strong competitors and well organised. So are we in my opinion. It could’ve gone either way in the end. Perhaps we pushed too hard and should’ve held for a point at least but all is not lost.

We got what we deserved tonight, we came out as ever with big crowd & got caught out early. The Flames forwards were all over us for the majority of the game, forcing us into errors & we helped them by shooting ourselves in the foot to many times.
When we went to a simple plan, got pucks deep, turned the D & prevented them changing lines we got back into the game in that spell. As soon as we were back into it we reverted to over playing, looking for the perfect goal. As for the game management in the final few minutes, several players either went off programme or Fox was cavalier in his thoughts, as we'd been dominated by the Flames for most of the game.
I disagree with comments that all the D had a shocker, in my view they didn't however Petgrave did.
He continually over committed, over playing the puck and leaving us vulnerable time and time again when in the O zone, in our own D zone, blind back hand passes to the point for the Flames forwards were regular. The ironic thing being O'Connor on the Flames had a solid game & he used to be the same for us.
I know all the coaches us video technology nowadays, but tonight's will be an old fashioned video nasty.

A shame we didn't bank the point that was there for the taking with a minute of puck possession. We could have then gone cavalier in overtime.
I thought they tried hard , particularly after going behind (!) but Guild ford must have been watching Steeler videos all week as they seemed to know where the next pass was headed and they cut it out , making less puck handling mistakes than we did.
Their goalie played well but was prepared to knock the net off if we threatened late on , which he did twice. They have speedy forwards and excellent stick to stick passing and I could see how they deserved to be up there with the leaders.
Could have gone either way but in my opinion this result makes the upcoming away double header in Belfast make or break games.

That was our chance last night to put our marker down & say to Guildford, you want to win this league title, you have to get the best of us - & that they did, you can't simply start games the way we continue to start them & continually expect to keep scoring in bunches & pulling ourselves back into games.

Our weak link (just my opinion) is Petgrave, he over commits, doesn't get back to help out Nevalainen & leaves him exposed, dont get me wrong he's put up some decent(ish) numbers but its D first!

I've lost count how many times we over committed & Greenfield bailed us out time & time again, last night he didn't.

In other threads I've raved about Tedesco , last night he was simply outstanding, said he'll lead Flames to the title & I haven't changed my mind, I'd have him in Orange every day of the week.

Next weekend is vital that we get those 4 points heading into the Belfast double, which I think will be a split weekend.

Flames win tonight against Storm & that puts them 3 points clear of Steelers in 2nd, there's still a fair bit to go but we can't keep slipping up at home like we are doing.

Can't disagree with any of that really.

Flames win 6-4 & go 3 points clear but were made to work hard for it.
