A good early marker to see where we are currently against a good but equally beatable side. I'd like to think Fox wants to send an early message to a potential title rival that he's recruited a great side which will be challenging on all fronts.
I'm expecting a tight game, which I'm hoping we'll edge 4-3.
Would expect Joey Martin to win most of the faceoff's he takes though.
At least we know who our Number 1 goalie is for a while.

Good early matchup against a top team, will be intriguing to see how we matchup against them early on. Definitely won't decide the league but an early marker for either side would be a huge confidence booster.
Need to come out hard against them that's for sure, would be good to get the first goal, something we haven't done too often so far (early days obviously). Cardiff's top 6 is loaded with fire power, Reid-Martin-Crandall, Cox-Coughler-Sanford, we will need to stay out of the box as well.
We have the talent to beat them but they have more returnees / familiar faces - hopefully a full week of training will help us create some line chemistry and eradicate a few of the cheap turnovers we've seen so far.
According to Fox's interview with Pete Spencer we will be:
Connolly-Neumann-Dowd
Ciampini-Allen-Mosey
McNally-Raska-Latal
Jono-Pitule-Whistle
Nevalainen-Petgrave
Piche-Jones
Schulze-Davey
Greenfield
Warburton
I'll go 4-2 Steelers!

I'm obviously hoping for a Steelers reg win, and hope that they've developed some more chemistry with the extra week of training.
I'm hoping that we have recruited some big game players who will elevate their play for these type of games. Too often in the recent past our showing has been meek in the big games and we've put in frankly awful performances.
I'm looking for more from Ciampini and Allen from the new forwards, and hope that Raska and Neumann continue to do well-theyve been doing ok so far. Need a heck of a lot more from latal and could do with Dowdy finding the back of the net.

I've little to no interest in pre season apart from attending the home Nottingham game which I have absolutely zero recollection about so I have no predetermined ideas of who our D pairings etc will be.
This will be the first thing I'll be keeping an eye on in this opening game.

After the tragic news we heard yesterday, I'm not sure this will be going ahead now
