Conway announced back at Belfast.

I'm not sure why that makes us a mid table team. I think we're close with Nottingham and Cardiff.

In my head I see it as :

Devils
Giants
Panthers
Steelers

At the moment, just a gut feeling on my behalf that's all, all comes down to who we've got left to announce & who our netminders will be..

Our last forward signings should be Ciampini, Mandat, McNally and hopefully Aaron was alluding to signing Hammond that’s three top 6 players all above 20 goals a season, plus a player in McNally if he keeps his cool can do a good job for us on special teams and net us double figures I don’t think we’re too bad imo.

The key for many will be the netminder situation like you point out, it’s been below par to say the least. He hasn’t done a lot wrong Aaron since joining us but probably self admittedly he hasn’t put enough emphasis on a stud goalie. Let’s hope that changes with the new signings, it will be the make or break of this team.

Our biggest forward signing still to come apparently (Sheffield Star)

And our goalies to announce, another D-man and 2 more forwards (plus the signing mentioned above), I definitely won't be predicting where we will end up right now or even when the team is fully announced - it all depends on what actually happens once all teams hit the ice and get playing. :jazz:

If we signed those 3 (Ciampini, Mandat, McNally) plus Hammond that would put us at 13 forwards (including Mosey) so I'm assuming Mosey would move back to D if this is true? And according to rumours we have already signed Sebastien Piche who is a d-man which would complete our D group, so we would then be carrying a spare, which I can't see happening.

I don't think Mandat is coming to be honest, I think McNally and Ciampini are and Piche on D which would leave us looking something like:

Ciampini-Hammond-Dowd
Allen-Raska-Latal
Mitchell-Connolly-Mosey
McNally-Whistle-Jono

Petgrave-Piche
Nevalainen-Jones
Schulze-Jones

Yeah I heard that but wasn't sure if that was just throwing us off :Smiled: :D

Wouldn't be against Mosey playing D, the only thing would be is if we then had an injury back there who would cover, as our D cover would be in that 6 to start with

I did some very high level estimates of player scoring based on recent seasons and my current prediction is:

Belfast 206 goals
Sheffield 194 goals
Cardiff 190 goals
Nottingham 186 goals

That assumes unsigned import forwards are 20 goals and British forwards are 10 goals, but that will go up or down as the signings are announced.

My mate usually goes to town on the stats for the start of the season, so it will be interesting to see what he comes up with in a couple of weeks.

I don't think there's much in it at the moment, with Belfast having the edge again.

It begs the question would we be prudent with injuries inevitable to run with a spare even an expensive player is surely cheaper than the out lay on new visas housing flights etc… they couldn’t be much difference in the cost?
Thinking about it maybe that was Aaron’s intentions with Deluca obviously I feel that ship has sailed but maybe plan b been implemented.

I always wonder why the top sides don’t do this. Every season you’ll need to bring in extra bodies, so why not strike when the market is nice rather than basically taking whoever you can find in the season.

I’m with yeh maybe it’s a case of tightness thinking if we can get away with it false economy in my eyes.
