Greenfield takes the goalie spot in the CHL's team of the year.

Thoroughly deserved, but that's probably just increased his market value in Europe somewhat. Not overly confident we are going to be able to keep him for next season.

That is amazing for Greener, but not so good for us :D I think it is inevitable that he'll get some great offers and he will not be easy to replace with our budget

He's certainly earned the accolades with his performances the last 2 seasons. I wouldn't blame him for taking the opportunity to play in Europe's top leagues if the chance arose (which it probably will!).

When he goes I hope we opt for a 2 top EIHL standard starting netminders setup. It was a big loss when Greener was out injured for a few weeks last autumn.

AND……. Simpson gets goal of the season as well.

Greenfield is probably the best consistent goalie we’ve ever had. I’d argue that us being in the CHL has helped keep him for this season.

Loved the CHL this year and we did ourselves proud.

It can be correctly argued that it might have cost us the league title, but some of the best hockey I’ve ever seen on 20 or so years watching the Steelers was played in this season’s competition. I’m gutted we won’t be in it next season.

Still, they’ll be plenty of fans that will be delighted that we won’t be in the competition next season. I personally believe this a very short sighted view and lacks ambition. Just happy playing in our little pond.

Hope we can keep Greenfield for next season, but can’t fault him if he goes for a higher paid job in Europe, especially as we’re unlikely to qualify for next season’s CHL competition.
