Golod returns home

Maxim Golod returns to Canada due to urgent personal matters. Sounds like he's done for the season but door left open for a return.

Hope he gets everything sorted but unfortunately sounds like it's probably a bad situation at home.

No news yet on any replacement

That doesn't sound good. I hope it's not as bad as it appears

Does anyone know please, if we are able to sign a replacement for Maxim Golod, if we could find such a player and that's taking into account the various rules of the EIHL?

I hope everything works out well for Golod, it must be quite serious for him to go home.

Since arriving he's been outstanding, so hopefully we'll see him back before the season is finished.

Any injuries to imports now and we'll be playing short. I think we might be allowed one more signing, so hopefully Tony and Aaron have something up their sleeve.

I wonder if there's any chance of Janatuinen playing again.

Our thoughts are with you Maxine. There are more important things than hockey.

I'd forgotten all about Janatuinen Doom, what's happened to him?

I seriously doubt he's going to play pro hockey again. From the interviews and articles prior to him signing it sounded like it was something unusual that was causing him issues, and whatever they thought it was eventually only solved it for a short period.

Absolutely gutted for him, having a condition that seemingly can't be easily defined is awful no matter what it affects.

In terms of any replacement for Golod, I've heard nothing. With the deadline it's going to be this week or nothing, but hopefully some higher leagues teams that are out of playoff contention start releasing imports ahead of next year

He was put on injury reserve, but I don't think they've ever said what is wrong.

My guess it's the same issue which plagued him before he joined us. I don't think it was ever properly diagnosed, but I recall something being mentioned about him feeling very fatigued when he played.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think we'll see him play for us again. He's clearly a very talented player, but just can't shake off his past issues. Very sad for him.

From the Tony Smith programme article, it very much sounds like we'll be trying to get Golod back for next year. Whether we will or not remains to be seen, but fingers crossed!
