It's a difficult job trying to keep an ice hockey club solvent, so if people contributing £16 helps, then I'm all for it.

In the past I remember Steelers supporters handing over £200 to help keep the club going and in exchange they got nothing of any value.

I don't want to go back to those days, so if webcasts help then I'm in favour.

There is of course the argument as to whether a cheaper webcast would generate a lot more money because of the greater numbers watching, but I guess the danger with that is some people would decide it's better to stay at home rather than turn up in person to a game, losing the club gate receipts.

Ice hockey is very different to sports like football, I guess it's a very difficult balancing act.

I'm less inclined to support other webcasts though, especially when the quality is as poor as the Manchester one.

I agree with Doom. When I was seriously ill we kept our season ticket seats but had to watch the webcasts. Steelers excellent webcasts helped to keep me sane. Steelers is without doubt in my view the best and well worth the money. We will thankfully be at all games we can make this season and we have been season ticket holders for as long as the Steelers have existed. We support them as much as we can. Mark, I am sorry but I take a little exception to your proposal. It is not my fault that all the EIHL clubs charge £15 or £16 . The idea that you we should foresake watching and following our beloved team in the ridiculous hope that this would bring the price down doesn’t deserve serious consideration.

The other issue here is that no club is going to charge such a low price that it would diminish the crowd in the arena. I wonder what the break point is here? I don’t suppose anybody knows. We have to be sensible about this. Steelers want, and we surely all want most people who can to be present in the arena. Live hockey beats a webcast every time.

Having said that the Everyplay price of 4.5 Euros per game is wonderful but they broadcast the whole league. The only way of matching that would be for all the EIHL clubs to agree to one company showing every match. Good luck with that idea!

So my question now is are Steelers showing our home games or does the CHL prevent that to ensure the Everyplay contract is not broken? Does anyone know? I am not able to make the CHL games with a medical problem so, if possible, I shall watch the Steelers broadcast @ £16 in preference to the Everyplay 4.5 euros to further support my team.
