The 9th/10th place Dundee Stars at home...
poll... surely a comfortable win for us!
GAME THREAD: Sheffield Steelers v Dundee Stars, Wednesday 21st December 7:30pm
Moderator: Mods
They've won 2 away games all season, we've had our standard home loss to them already, so I'd hardly call their away from decent losing their last 10 away games on the trot. 5 points gained out of a possible 26 - 19% away win record.
Easy win
Panthers 6-2 loss
Fife 2-4 win
Steelers 1-2 win
Storm 5-2 loss
Flames 6-3 loss
Giants 3-2 OT loss
Blaze 7-2 loss
Flames 4-2 loss
Blaze 4-0 loss
Clan 6-1 loss
Devils 6-4 loss
Giants 4-3 loss
Devils 5-3 loss

I'd let the best out of the 2 young lads play.
Dundee aren't very good and I think bringing in a backup will help the team focus on making sure of the win.
For me our backups will never get any better if they don't get opportunities to play at the EIHL level.
This is an ideal game to put one in.

Imagine the fallout if Fox did this and we lost though?
The chance to give the backup ice time was in the previous 50+ CC group games.
I mean, had anyone actually seen any of these lads play a full game? For one of their 'other' teams?
It's all well and good popping out for 4 minutes in garbage time when we're cruising against Fife with a decent D in front of them but a full 60 playing for whoever with only a plumber and a bricklayer (who will have done a full week of proper work already) to protect you is a different proposition.
I was surprised that we didn't play more of the backups in the CC.
You're right the fallout would be pretty bad if Fox played a backup and lost.
Imagine the fallout if Greenfield get's injured or gets burnt out. 32 games played already for him including the CC games and we're not even at Christmas yet.
I thought Warburton played well in the EIHL series training sessions and should be good enough to play against a poor Dundee side.
I'd rather try and keep Greenfield fresh then risk losing several games because he gets burnt out or injured.

I very much doubt Mr Fox will take such a risk tbh.smbmetal wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 9:20 amI was surprised that we didn't play more of the backups in the CC.

Begs the question why any young Brit lad would want to become a netminder at all.

I can see Greenfield playing 30-40 minutes tonight, game situation allowing. Can't see it the other way around!
