Hi everyone,

I wasn't sure what to call the thread, as I figured it would be good to call it something so that others can post introductions too rather than having loads of separate posts and Jay said to make one.

So let's start off with my own introduction;

I'm Mark and I originally come from Huddersfield, but me and the wife moved to Flockton a couple of years ago, which makes it ideal for travelling down to Steelers.

Prior to this season, I had never been to a Steelers game. Our first one was against the Flames, and then we went to the Panthers game. Thoroughly enjoyed both and now we are hooked. We did attend a couple of Phoenix games a long time ago just to see if it was something the wife could get into, and she really enjoyed it. You may wonder why it was Phoenix games we attended, at the time it was the easiest rink for us to get to (for distance and time) and as we wasn't sure if she'd like it, we didn't want to have to travel too far and it feel like a wasted trip so we went a couple of times. With the other sports we was watching at the time (Football / Cricket), we could never commit to going full time so coming over to watch Steelers weekly was never an option at the time. It was good to just get in a couple of games.

Luckily, living where we do now, we can watch Huddersfield, get home and changed and make it to the Arena well before face off which makes it ideal and now that we don't go to Cricket anymore, Sunday games are not an issue either. So we are planning on getting to as many games as we can this season, and are considering (well I am anyway, just need to persuade the wife haha) getting season tickets for the Steelers next season.

The hard prat now is trying out new blocks each time to see where we would want to be if we do get a season ticket.

It will be good to chat to you all :hiya:

Welcome to you and yours Mark. Always good to have a new fan and member. You'll find we're a friendly lot on here, unlike some I could, but won't, mention 😁

Hi Mark. Welcome to Sheffield Steelers. You are doing exactly what we did 23 years ago. We tried every block (except the away ones), before deciding where to take up permanent residence. We have been in the same block now for 18 years and have built up friendships with those around us that goes beyond the season ending. Good luck with you hunt. :thumb:

Cheers Jay, I certainly will do. I will also chirp in with discussions, that's the reason I joined  . I might not be as knowledgeable about the players we have as much as the rest of you here, but I will soon get to learn more about them the more I go. It's just good to be able to discuss games with other Steelers fans, as I don't actually know anyone who goes to games.

I think it's the best way to do it, and you can easily get tickets in any block so it's great. The first block we tried was 119 and we was about half way up. I really enjoyed the view from there. I'd like to try be a couple of blocks to the left to see that view, I was just a tad concerned depending how low down you are, and whether the view would be blocked by the subs / penalty boxes.

Hi guys,

I'm new on here (obviously haha) and I just wanted to say hi. I've been coming to the steelers since I was 6 and have loved every minute of it since.

My dad has been on here for a bit and has been watching the steelers since the start and I've wanted to join this website with my own login thing aswell and my dad told me that I could join it now too. So yeah, I'm really happy, I'll try to put comments on that sound right, normal and that doesn't sound dumb but please don't mind me if something I put on sounds stupid or dumb I'm definitely not the best with that kind of thing haha 😂

Hi everyone.
I’m from Mansfield (yep we all have our cross to bear  ) and my families first ice hockey game was actually in the enemy’s pad for a champions league game. Panthers won, but something didn’t feel right…the atmosphere, the music, the terrible parking but we were hooked on hockey so tried the Steelers. Our first Steelers game was against Cardiff in the challenge cup final at the arena which we lost but everything Notts didn’t have, Sheffield did. It felt like home!!! I think that was 2015 but I could be wrong…sitting here with Covid19. Anyway Sheffield is now our second home and my daughter is even doing her fourth year at university here, and it all started with the Steelers. Oh, and even if you know next to nothing, it takes time but eventually you pick enough up to get by. Loving it and loving this team!!! COYS P.S Did I hear there’s even Chesterfield supporters here :thumb: That’s why I love the Steelers, it brings us all together!!! And lastly my favourite moment…Losing in Nottingham with 2 minutes to go and up steps Mr Roy.

Hiya
Another Steeler here from south of the border in Sutton in Ashfield (Notts)....

I was introduced to the Steelers when i was asked if me and my then young family would like to go to an ice hockey game back in 1999 when i was working in Chesterfield.

My first game was against the old Manchester Storm with Vial patrolling the blue line, and Allison causing mayhem on the forward line. Suffice to say we were hooked.

Since then we have worn a groove in the M1 travelling to Sheffield, as well as visiting other rinks up and down the country.
