Steelers legend and game winning 1997 play-off goal scorer Jason Lafreniere is ill in hospital after a heart attack back home in Vancouver.
Incredibly skilled player and a real character.
Get well Jason.

One of the best players to ever pull on a Steelers Jersey in my opinion... silky stick skills, fast like a bullet and knew every inch of the net.. liked a pop or three after a game too...
speedy recovery Jason...
A player I will never forget... one of only a few... many come and go without leaving their mark, Jason wasn't in the team anywhere long enough... he was basically to good for us...

Sad news, but hopefully he can make a full recovery.
Probably one of the top 3 most skilled players to pull on a Steelers shirt and certainly a character with it.
We would certainly benefit from a modern day Lafreniere in the current Steelers team.
Regards

Echo the thoughts on here - praying for a quick and full recovery #14
I can’t remember the opposition - but the wow moment which always sticks in my mind for pure skill factor was a fairly innocuous play where he was knocked face forward on the blue line and had 2 maybe 3 players surrounding him, and on his knees he kept control of the puck, stick handled around the pokes and attempts and passed away cleanly like it was nothing. Totally innocuous but it was one of those “did he just..?” moments.
How Kovacs didn’t get a call on him for the aforementioned playoff goal I’ll never know
Top memories right there - loved the team that year - Priestlay, Plommer, Cranston, Kovacs, Beulieu, Mulvenna, Lafrenierre - Jimmy Hibbert goalie fight vs Basingstoke - so many memories that year.
Get well soon and best wishes #14
