So we can now add Anthony Morrone and Angus Laing to the squad as our backup netminding tandem.
I can't say I'm blown away by Morrone's numbers, but he sounds a good character and he has good size. It's certainly a wait and see for me, but he was on a struggling team so that might explain his save percentage.
Laing should be a useful addition, he's a bit older with a bit more experience than our usual backup Brits, so hopefully he'll step up to the plate if he's ever required.

Remember making the mistake of judging Joel Laing on the basis of his previous stats. Spoke to Kayle Short who said the team were atrocious and without Laing it would have been regular double figure concessions. It turned out that Mr Laing was a fair old goalie.

Where’s his bad stats? He averaged 91.8 at ECHL level not to mention his NCAA numbers and personal accolades! To put that into perspective Greenfield averaged 91.6 at ECHL. IMO any goalie that averages over 91 at echl level will be a good goalie in our leaguesteeler27 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 10:07 amRemember making the mistake of judging Joel Laing on the basis of his previous stats. At the time I remember some questioning whether he really would be our number one because he wasn't AHL, but I really liked the look of him because his ECHL stats were so good.

Juusola is finally confirmed as signing.
There obviously is a risk to this signing with him having scored 0 goals last season, but I don't feel this is a similar risk to someone like Mitchell or Raska because there's such a high potential upside.
I've put him down for 15 goals and assume he'll play on the bottom 6, but I wouldn't be surprised if he forced his way on to the top line and scores a lot more.
Two years ago he was near the top of his teams scoring in the top Finnish league and had the best +/-, you don't do that unless you're talented.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how he develops in our league where he's likely to get a bit more space and time. On an earlier post I suggested he might have a similar impact to Latal.
Only 25 years old and from one of the top leagues in Europe......what's not to like?

Definitely a wait and see, but with lots of potential. Sounds like he's pencilled in to start in bottom 6, and that even if he doesn't fully recapture his scoring touch, he'll be very responsible and can play that role well.
I'm sure he'll be wanting to come in and do well, as could be a route back to one of the better leagues in Europe, especially considering his age.
Be interesting to see how the lines all fit together and especially in the bottom 6
