Isn't it 2 goals in 185 minutes of hockey? We're told we score in batches, so maybe we get droughts in batches too?
Fox has to sort it by this coming weekend.
I'm sure Mr Smith will not be happy with the performances and now potentially has some very difficult decisions to make. For arguments sake does he?
1. Keep Fox at the helm and see how the remainder of the season plays out with the hope that we will win a trophy?
2. Keep Fox until the end of the season and look at bringing in a new coach for the start of next season?
3. Make a coaching change now, to give someone new a chance to get to know the league a little bit so they won't be going into the new season cold as it were?
4. Don't do anything and hope that next season will be the one?
Option 3 for me.

Option 3 only if a suitable person has already been selected, vetted and is available in order that they can get an earlier start on recruitment.smbmetal wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 9:00 amI'm sure Mr Smith will not be happy with the performances and now potentially has some very difficult decisions to make. Option 5. Get someone lined up scouting current and potential players for next season but keep it quiet and don't announce until the end of the season ( think that has been done before lol )
If Fox wins the playoffs it makes for a much harder call but we know we have a squad that on their day can beat anyone so it's not about the players, it's either tactical or motivational.

I think its both tactical and motivational, and could argue an element of recruitment too.mark wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 9:08 amOption 3 only if a suitable person has already been selected, vetted and is available in order that they can get an earlier start on recruitment.smbmetal wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 9:00 amI'm sure Mr Smith will not be happy with the performances and now potentially has some very difficult decisions to make. There's too many people in the kitchen at the club, too many opinions.
It's obvious and that's why as a club they've struggled for a while, can we honestly say the recruitment and player types has changed much since the days of GA.
That's the downfall if the club and that's what, nearly 10 years ago ?
We've had since PT who took a good side and made it weaker.
We then had Barasso who made the best of what he had at his disposal but wasn't cut out for the recruitment element or did he want too much say ?we've never really known.
Then Fox who has brought in players similar to PT that you think will do a job because they are a certain type and then proceeds to take that type out of the player and you end up with 3 or 4 lines of similar play styles.
There's a reason under the current ownership that the club is struggling on the ice....

More a lurker than a poster these days but thought I'd add something to this.
Yes the downturn in form lately has been a terrible thing and we need some confidence from somewhere as the team is severely lacking.
I've just looked through the results from January and off the back of that tough loss to Guildford at home followed by the following weekend losing to clan on their upturn of form. From memory we then went into the Belfast double header and yet whilst we did lose both those games they were some of the best performances of the year when we ran into a very good Belfast side and only lost in the last few minutes in the first game and a shootout loss after a(nother) 0-0 game in the second. Was the performance meeting with Fox a little harsh as since this meeting the whole team looks to have lacked confidence and possibly Fox is seeing the writing on the wall and potentially giving up himself. Have we moved this position as one of the most untenable positions looking back at everything that we have done in the past we have been very quick once the downturn comes and fired quick and thought about things later. I get that fox has been here what 3 and 1/2 years now and we have 1 trophy for it. But we have generally been in and around the league title and the cups in his time. Had it not been to covid could we have won that season if we had been able to finish that season and say won everything would these conversations even be brought to light.
Ready for everyone to tell me to get the orange tinted specs off but trying to look at the bigger picture here. There has clearly been some sort of virus running through the camp is this something that has stalled the output of players lately? Are players trying to play through this and it's having adverse effects on everyone? There definitely seems to be some frustration in the camp too as you can see it on the rink when things don't come off as players expect but at the end of the day that's hockey!

Personally I don't think the constant chopping and changing of the F lines helps, and I also don't think we have a balance or blend of players that compliment each other enough or offer a different option on the ice.
I'm no hockey coach I know but as a s/t holder I can only speak about what observe on a weekly basis.
Unfortunately we're at the end of February and I don't believe Fox knows his best side, which for him, is a huge problem and one that ultimately may cost him long term.

I don’t know the ins and outs of how coaching teams work, but how much input does Carter get? Do we let Fox stay until end of season and then give Carter a chance at the reigns?
