I go away for 10 minutes to tuck into my tea & we turn it around to win 4-3.

Well done boys, a good 120 minutes run out against a decent Panthers team imo.

I thought our performance tonight was much more scrappy, but special teams got us out of jail.

Far too many mis-placed passes and poorly controlled pucks to get things going.

Greenfield looks to be what we've missed in recent seasons, a netminder who will win us games when we're second best.

The star of the weekend for me is Petgrave, he looks like being a real fan favourite. I think he'll probably cost us a few goals, but the guy is pure box office.

Far too early to be critical of players, I think we need to give them all time to adjust to our league.

If I was a Panthers supported I'd also be a lot happier tonight. Last night I thought we outplayed them for decent chunks of the game, but tonight I thought they were the better team.

We really should have gone for Hammond, he looked comfortably their best player and the best forward on the ice.

As for the nets coming off, there were no obvious deliberate pushes, it looked more like they weren't fixed properly. No issues last night with Greenfield.

Regards

Doom
Didn't see the game last night.
Tonight. Greenfield will steal a few games for us, we've not had a nettie like that for years.
Face offs a bit of concern again, along with our back-checking d zone coverage when Nottingham broke our with fast transition. Soft as for the two Nottingham third period goals. Was so like last year. A few stood out, a few were ok, a few were underwhelming but one week of training, settling in to the UK, there is a good 3-4 weeks before they should be up and running where they are playing at their capabilities and have bedded in.

Petgrave a stud d man, ciampini and raska will run neck and neck for top point scoring.

I thought face offs got better as the game went on. I think the lines will change a bit from what we have seen this weekend, although fully expect Latal and Raska to stay together.

Also, a mention for McNally - think he did alright this weekend. Finished hits and some good work along the boards

I was going to ask how McNally faired. He should allow Connolly to play his rink rat role very well this year and Conn’s will know he has some backup.

Pleased to hear that Greenfield looks good, from his interview he certainly sounded like he was up for playing for the number 1 slot.

What was the crowd like? Looked fairly healthy from a few pictures I’ve seen? How about the new Jumbotron?

Sounds like a successful weekend. Well done Steelers.

I'll reserve judgement until the proper stuff starts.

Well, it was definitely entertaining! We've missed live hockey.

First period we were pretty average. Couldn't get much quality offence going. Second period we were miles better and then we tailed off in the 3rd.

Good PK practice as we took a lot of penalties. That's looking solid.

Greenfield was excellent and, as already mentioned, Raska and Petgrave stood out, McNally was good and we thought Jones has a good game. Whistle looks like he's picked up from where he left off last season.

Regarding the problems with the nets, they came off for both goalies a lot. They can't have been fixed right as there were no pegs ever visible on the ice. Both for Greenfield and their goalie, none of them looked deliberate. Very odd and needs, erm, fixing.

The new screen is really smart and love the new Pretender intro. Sounded like all the same songs - we were hoping for a few new ones.

Overall, a good work out over the 2 games.

I didn't see the game in Nottingham, but enjoyed the home game. I can see great potential if we can stay free from major injuries. Entertaining for a "friendly" game, although I would be aggrieved at the number of times the net came off its moorings if I was a Panthers fan

I was there yesterday, great game and I have some notes:

First - Greenfield is great, he makes it looks so easy
Second - I knew Piche would be good, I had an intuition, and that goal, he's a defender
Third - There were a lot of NHL fans, they've got the wrong country and the wrong month (their pre season starts end of Sep.)
Fourth - That game proved my point that Matthew Myers shouldn't be on that gb squad, I wish Pete Russell would book up is ideas and replace him with Brandon Whistle already
Fifth - Their goalie's NAME is BERRY? I sat there most of the time taking the mick out of him and also said they got so fed up by the end that they ate him
Sixth - They haven't perfected the Tron, the desktop came up on the bottom bit (what are they using an OS from '94 or something??)

Overall I think we're in for a good chance this season
Is it bedtime yet

Nothing wrong with wearing NHL jerseys. Nice to have banter with fans about that league as well as ours in my opinion. Plus some people might not suit orange lol
