What a fabulous effort from a bruised and battered team who left it all out on the ice.

Very proud to be a Steeler this morning.

As for the Grand Slams, I've enjoyed them.all, but they were all won under completely different circumstances.

The first one was when the club was on the up and undoubtedly had the biggest budget in the league. We'd won a double the season before and then went out and signed the best British player ever in Tony Hand.

The second one was in very difficult circumstances, because of the perilous state of our finances that season. For me the 2000/01 team was the best ever in this country, but at times it was difficult to enjoy it because of the financial concerns.

To some extent this seasons is the most enjoyable, because the club is financially stable and it seems so long ago since we last won a playoff or a league title.

Well done to everybody for making this happen. There will be a lot of smiling faces in the Sheffield region this morning.

Regards

Doom

:Gob: :Gob: We got a mention on Look Leeds!
But on Hallam FM (Hits Radio South Yorkshire) there wasn't even a mention either on the 07:00 or 07:30 news headlines.

Media coverage is still very poor and always has been.

Speaking of media coverage, as for Premier Sports they need to learn how to put a clock on the screen! No idea how long was left in the 3rd period when Belfast had pulled Whistle, very poor. Amateur sports channel at best that one.

As with Doom and many others we have been there for all the ups and downs of this club. It’s been a really hard for most as tragedy hit before and during the season, but I believe it made the group work even harder for each other. Saying all that, we went into this weekend expecting nothing but wanting everything. What a team and what a club, well done to everyone involved.

The above kind of contradicts the social media comments of the Steelers buying championships.

Three grand slams, multiple League, Playoff, Challenge cup wins.
Its in the DNA of the club, management and supporters.
Oh, and some great players over the years. (who keep coming back)

We must be doing something right.

This post might not go down to well... and might come over a bit like moaning for the sake of it..

I loved every bit of this weekend right to the final whistle and so proud of this team and our efforts this season..

But that chanting last night 'F^*" The giants' was totally out of order...

I just don't see, why someone on the balcony didn't point out, It wasn't appropriate, I know there grown men but our so-called media expert was up there and isn't he constantly preaching we are a family club.. I don't really want my kids to find the clip.. These guys are heroes to them, and as much as they are smart kids, both of them can be influenced by outside media like this and if its ok for them to chant that, then why can't they...
All it does when the rest of the EIHL fans sees the clips now is to perpetuate the myth about Steelers fans now...

I may be coming over as a boring so and so but to me it was out of order.. I didn't like it one bit.. Started by Cormier apparently?

Its been mentioned before we have the Football mentality creeping in?

I'd heard about the Giants chant from someone else, but didn't go back to the arena.

I understand the euphoria of wining a Grand Slam and another championship, but was very surprised to hear that type of chant.........I suppose I could understand it more if we had a fierce rivalry with them, but most games this season have been fairly tepid.

Not sure where that came from, perhaps a few too many shandies had been consumed.

Not great for any kids there and I would agree our club officials should have attempted to stop that type of behaviour. Having not witnessed it, I can't really comment if that was indeed attempted.

PS: I don't think you're being boring at all, the club promotes itself very heavily on being family friendly and I'm afraid this type of behaviour doesn't promote that in the slightest.

Was it great ?, no, but many of the players and fans have been the subject of a fair bit of abuse either in person or on social media over the weekend and despite that we still came through as winners. One short chant out of the last 48 hours ?, I can forgive that.

As for the language, anyone who was old enough to have been outside the Arena at 10.30pm will have heard far worse language at school or work or just in daily life, they might not use those words in front of their parents but you can be sure they know them.

Agree with 10:30pm part, but unfortunately with social media that means the clip is available 24/7.

It's not the end of the world as you say and there will be far worse in school's, I just think it's a bit of a shame that it was called for, especially when there's zero rivalry between the clubs.

Maybe this will spark some for next season? Hope so! :Smiled:

A little article on BBC news:

Thought there'd be some sour grapes from Keefe. Couldn't happen to a nicer coach :D

Can’t wait for ‘Sports personality of the year’ this December, no doubt the Steelers will be up for best team, just like the Giants were last year…. Oops sorry, I think I’ve just had one of my delusional moments… must be my age! 🤪
