It looks like the final import is signed up and to be announced on Saturday.
I'm very interested to see the type of player he is.
I wonder if there's any chance of it being Golod. He's not particularly the type of player we need, but there's no questioning the quality he brought to the team last time.
It would certainly make line predictions very difficult, because we'd probably have to look at moving either Dowd or Whistle on to the top two lines as a centre.

I've lost track and in part can't be bothered to try and parse the clubs poorly written website content, but wasn't there a suggestion that we were signing an additional swing guy? But the website is now saying this is the final signing....?
Either way, I would probably take Golod back. What's his faceoff stats like?

Of course it could be possible we've thrown big money at this latest signing leaving little in the pot for an addition.
Although Golod is listed as a centre on Elite Prospects, everything I've found on him suggests left wing, which means he probably doesn't take many faceoffs.

My mate isn't convinced, I think he's looking at his AHL +/- stats which usually have him near the bottom of the team.
I'm looking at his ECHL stats last season, which i consider to be a closer reflection of our league.
His ECHL stats last season are good. A point per game and his goal scoring ratio last season in the ECHL equates to mid 20's using my formula.
+/- stats in ECHL last season aren't bad either. He finished 7th on his team, but played fewer games than most of those above him, so is probably equivalent to 3rd or 4th on team.
I'd be happy enough with this as our final forward, especially if he's good at faceoffs.

I know the +/- stat is sometimes frowned upon as a true gauge of a player, but I was looking at that stat for all of the new guys and it was quite scary how many were in the minus column....
....then I looked at Jasper, Balmas & Juus....
in his season prior to coming to Steelers, Jasper was -23... and then was +20 for us... Balmas and Juus were also slightly into the negative before joining us.
At the end of the day its nice to have good individual stats... but it's how everyone performs as a team that counts. Hopefully they all gel quickly and can put up some wins

+/- in isolation is a terrible stat. It's only useful if you have context factors to understand it better. You could be an incredible player, on a terrible team.
