Not really. They got off to a tremendous start, scoring and keeping us quiet for most of the first 10 mins. Once we scored they never really managed to keep with us. I have to say I find it a little stressful watching De F. He lets go so many rebounds you are constantly expecting an opposition goal. In the end they only managed 1. He also looks slow side to side. Trouble is we are used to watching Greenfield. No one else in this league comes close in my opinion.

When you think of the players missing. Greenfield, Sauce, Dowd Veeti etc. That is a terrific performance especially after a midweek game and travelling. Those guys would walk into any team in this league. Here’s a thing too. When did we last score so many goals without Vally getting in on the act? To be fair he got a couple of assists. Tansey was a colossus tonight. Diffley was sound as usual as was Guimand. Watling was quiet but I’m sure we can forgive him that after Tuesday.

Apologies, was also watching the F1 qualifying and missed it. However I have breaking news, the new sponsor for the Manchester Storm is.....

Well I didn't see this one coming, although I've no complaints about it.
It's one of those freakish games where it seems like everything we hit went in.
I didn't get the webcast, not after the last Manchester experience, but I was following the game on the EIHL website. Early on we were out shot 10 to 0 and trailing 1 - 0, at that point I thought it was going to be a long night with the CHL exertion catching up on us. Then out of nowhere we found ourselves 2 - 1 up.
Overall out shot 43 to 34 with tracking having Manchester at 60% to win.
What a great night for Tansey and Guimond who were both comfortably top of our +/- with +6 each.
Let's hope there were no further injuries and we have enough left in the tank for the visit of Dundee.
Regards

Can't complain at that result. Not at the races first ten minutes but dominated after that. Thought De Filippo was excellent. No chance on any of the goals in my opinion (can't do anything about guys open in front!).
Golod really is quality - so dynamic on the puck, starting to drive play on any line he's on and has made our PP look dangerous again.
Very impressive given the amount of injuries at the moment.

I think your last sentence is the problem for all of us. We are used to watching Greenfield and his style, De Filippo is very different. This also a problem for the defence because they have to play differently to support him and practice sessions are very different to game time. He made some excellent saves last night with a 93.02 save percentage but he does give up rebounds which his defenders need to take control of and clear out.Bryan wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 9:47 pmNot really. His confidence must have been low given the lack of game time hopefully last night will boost this and he can show why Foxy thought he is a good fit for the Steelers.

There was one rebound that wasn't his fault, early third period I think when they had problems with the ice, he went to kick a shot away and the puck went about a yard and stopped in a puddle right in front of the oncoming storm player. I noticed several ice related problems especially around the corners towards the half boards where the puck kept getting left behind or players were unable to keep their balance.
