I have to say, we are quite close to the Tansey incident. He went straight through the numbers and the Giant went headlong into the boards. I said straightaway it was 5+game. I can’t see any reason not. Then when they replayed and the refs watched it they instantly confirmed it. The team did brilliantly to restrict Belfast to 1 goal in the 5 minutes and Tansey wasn’t missed as much as I expected. To have both Tansey and Saucerman missing would kill any other team. A brilliant effort. I do think that Giants were a threat all evening. Now they have a full roster and get going they will be a threat all season. As usual Greenfield was like a rock. Altogether fabulous Steelers gave me a nice birthday present.

Vainio slotted into the line up and bought into the team camaraderie as though he had been there years! Not afraid to call for the puck and his shot for the goal was excellent. I suspect he is an excellent pick up at this time of the season. Well done Aaron.
Oh! and Happy Birthday Bryan, …from Brian .!

What a fantastic effort. I thought we might win by the odd goal, even being short-benched, although when Tansey went and we conceded another goal, I had serious doubts. Absolutely thrilled with the win, and what a great debut for VV

For me, it just goes to show how dedicated these guys are to each other, in years gone by when we've lost a top end D man, we've fallen apart and we would've gone onto lose this game.
The sheer grit and determination these guys show goes beyond any kind of team commitment I've seem in years at the house of steel, they fight each night for each other, they step up when we are short benched, they are an absolute credit to our colours each and every one of them.
Top result against a very formidable Brlfast team for me last night.

Agreed. Under the early days of Fox's tenure I felt this was missing.BontSteeler wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 12:56 pmFor me, it just goes to show how dedicated these guys are to each other, in years gone by when we've lost a top end D man, we've fallen apart and we would've gone onto lose this game.

It's clearly taken some time and the correct personnel to get the old Steelers never say die attitude culture re-instated. Successful Steelers of old had this in spades and it appears we have it again
I just want the old 'sore loser' culture to return

Bar Tansey having a mare of a 5 minutes, to a man they were top drawer last night. Watling giving Levi Nelson vibes, Vainio looking quality in his first game for 12 months and Dowd battering another import who should have known better.
Belfast looked great going forward until we started to completely smother them in the 2nd. Our team defense is probably the best I've seen for a long time. Their D and netminding were nowhere near good enough though last night. Bast is definitely not the same player, and McCollum is no Besko
