Just shows, when 2 teams are up for it and they play a fast, physical and high intensity game, it’s very enjoyable to watch

These two games have shown we can play a faster, more physical, more direct type of game. Been two of my more enjoyable games this season from our performance point of view. Whoever we play next week will be a couple of steps up though.

Things could still change around, but it is looking very much like:
Belfast v Nottingham
Sheffield v Cardiff
It could well be a repeat of last seasons final, but hopefully we'll try and match Cardiff for physicality, because that is probably where the game will be won or lost.
We've got our tickets sorted.....First playoffs for us since the season before Covid ruined everything.
We did go to Nottingham last year, but didn't bother with the games.
I can't say I'm impressed with the face-off times though, much preferred them as they were.

Day Ticket for Adult is £62 - ouch! That works out at £31 a game, that's insane.Doom wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2023 10:18 amThings could still change around, but it is looking very much like:

The weekend ticket has cost us £114 each.
I think the last time we went, which was pre Covid, it was something like £82.
That's nearly a 40% increase. I know inflation is currently running at 10%, but it wasn't at anything like that last year.
This is clearly a case of our governing body profiteering on this one event to fund their business throughout the year.
They've more or less got the semi finalists they want, with the possible exception of Coventry for Belfast. It will be interesting to see if they can still sell out the event.
By their actions (expensive tickets, daft face-off times, not being able to pick your own seats) it will be interesting to see if they have managed to finally kill the goose that lays the golden egg.

You seen the price of the family ticket for the weekend? £330, that is absolutely ridiculous, you may as well pay for Viaplay for a month at £12 & watch the entire weekend from the comfort of your home.Doom wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 6:19 amThe weekend ticket has cost us £114 each.

Take in the cost of hotels, food etc, you could have a holiday abroad cheaper than you can going to watch the playoffs.
Guess the statement from the EIHL at the beginning of this season that they’d learnt their lesson from last seasons playoff failure with a half empty arena and the the ticket prices would be less is only really relevant for concessions?
No where near worth that cost for a weekend ticket. The hockey quality alone isn’t good enough.
But with both Nottingham & Steelers there, it will do well.
Wish I had that sort of disposable income to spend.

I think even with a decent income, there's a limit to what people will pay.smbmetal wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 12:58 pmGuess the statement from the EIHL at the beginning of this season that they’d learnt their lesson from last seasons playoff failure with a half empty arena and the the ticket prices would be less is only really relevant for concessions?

Folk support their teams throughout the season, only to then be wacked with extortionate prices to watch the playoff weekend.
I think unless the EIHL have a good look at ticket pricing in the future, then it'll struggle to sell out in the future as well.
If me & the missus wanted to go, it would be £228 just for tickets, I'd then be looking at 3 nights in Nottingham as we live in Swansea, you're looking at £282 (Premier Inn)
That's £510 to start & that's without petrol upto Nottingham & then eating & drinking.
