Blaze win 4-2.
We can dress it up how we want, pre-season etc, but 8 5on5 goals in 5 games is a bit of a shocker.
Let’s see what Saturday brings. But we need to be 100% better than what we’ve seen so far if we’re going to compete.

Thommo 2.0 season looming
Revolving door policy
Revolving door policy
Not the best pre-season, we seem to have actually gone backwards rather than make progress.
There's a lot for Fox to ponder this week, because if there isn't a big improvement in a lot of areas we're really going to struggle against Cardiff.
Hopefully players have been holding a bit back with it being pre-season and we'll see a different level of intensity come next Saturday.
No points dropped so far, hopefully I'll be saying the same thing next Sunday evening.
Regards

I don't know what everyone up there was expecting this weekend but it looks like Danny Stewart has again put together a decent side again on a budget.
For two periods against Panthers they were awful. They were two players short and looked like what they were, a team that hadn't played together before.
In the third it started to gel, they scored and pushed Nottingham back. Of course, Panthers being Panthers they didn't like it and spat their dummies out! Dubeau thought he was a tough guy throwing punches whilst still wearing his mask
and Gagnon was like a spaniel who'd seen a ball thrown for him.
This weekend Blaze have been infinitely better. Holsa has been the goalie they thought he'd be. The team is starting to connect and I think they'll now get better going into the season. Three preseason games is about right. They're ready to go now.
I guess what I'm saying is there are two teams out there. The Steelers look like they've played too many games with nothing on the line. They're not fatigued, but probably wary of injuries now.
I had to roll my eyes though when at the end, Steelers, having lost, descended into a Panther sulk and had a strop.
The clock is at zero, you've lost. Show a bit of class please!

That doesn't explain how we seem to have got worse has pre-season has got on. 8 5on5 goals in 5 games is concerning, however you dress it up.steelerblue wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 8:14 amI guess what I'm saying is there are two teams out there. Also, we're hockey is a sport played with emotion that sometimes boils over. I'm glad our boys showed a bit of heart and were upset at the result at the end.
I was expecting 2 x wins. It's very important that the Steelers hit the ground running as we cannot afford any "off" nights. We've lost our last 2 x away pre-season games.steelerblue wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 8:14 amI don't know what everyone up there was expecting this weekend but it looks like Danny Stewart has again put together a decent side again on a budget.

Unless Ostlund was injured, I still don't understand why Greenfield played both games. If we're wary of injuries, why load Greenfield up with two straight games? Plus Ostlund himself admitted he needs game time.
No issues with some sulkiness, that sends a message for the next game and I have no issues with sore losers, whether that be a pre-season game or a cup final.
Personally I'm fed up with vanilla, bland games. Let's have a bit of the old in your face hockey, used to be what the Steelers were all about.

BREAKING: Sheffield Steelers head coach Aaron Fox confirms Netminder Oskar Ostlund was NOT in tonight’s squad because he’s picked up an injury
They’re currently evaluating him, but are looking at “contingency plans” in case he’s out for a while.
