Iam rather looking forward to seeing the feisty no nonsense nature of the lines too, something Fox has been hinting at all close season, listening to the numerous interviews it does seem he is particularly willing to see that physical edge this season..

Breaking News: Patrick Watling re-signs for Sheffield Steelers - Confirmed
Steelers Rumours 22/23

I've just had a quick look at The Cage and some seem to think they are well ahead of us in terms of goals.
That's not what my very rough and ready numbers are showing, I'm currently predicting:
Belfast 207
Sheffield 191
Cardiff 191
Nottingham 187
Not much in it for me.
I've assumed all teams have full squads so I've factored in 20 goals for unsigned import forwards. Therefore if Notts get a 30 goal man, that figure will increase, if it's a 15 goal man it will come down.
What the figures tell me this season is that there is very little to choose between the teams (last season Sheffield and Belfast were well ahead).
My mate has done something similar, although he goes into far more detail and he did have us higher (213) and Belfast about the same (208). His figures don't include the signings today, but my guess is they won't change much (maybe a slight drop).
Regards

I like the fact that we appear to have gone down a more balanced forward line up with skill and grit, youth and experience. So appear to have more options than just plan A.
A few question marks.
Neumann is such an interesting signing, really looking forward to seeing how he pans out.
Now we wait for the final D signing and number 1 nettie.

When asked by a fan how many more players are there to be announced the official Steelers twitter account replied saying “Two maybe Three”, I’m hoping it’s 3 otherwise our netminder situation has taken a downward turn
Looking forward to seeing it.
Couple of things that purely from my point of view could do with improving……
1. Warm up music. I struggle with the current stuff. Bring back Thunderstruck, Spirit of the Radio, Eat the rich. Current stuff is too passive for me.
2. More videos for the new scoreboard. Love the 2 in the box ghostbusters one for example.
3. Intro needs to be shorter. Like Pretender but not fussed about the song before. Games are not starting until 10 mins after advertised. Imagine Premier League games doing that? I don’t think so.

Wouldn't mind either of these 2, especially Gilbert.

For me this is the make or break season for Fox. He's made a number of risky signings which will really test his judgement. If we're going to finish one place above Belfast, I'd suggest nearly all of the signings will need to come off.
Defensively I think our new signings look safe and should be good quality in our league.
Allen - Looks a safe signing.
Ciampini - I think this is risky. He should put up points, but the question is how many? We need him to be a minimum 25 goal scorer and most of his career he has put up good numbers, except last season when he looked more like a 15 goal man - a one off blip?
Connolly - We all know the risks associated with this signing.
McNally - By all accounts very good for Cardiff before his hand injury, but poor afterwards. Which version will we get?
Mitchell - Generally put up OK numbers in North America, but 0 goals in 25 games in 20/21 is a worry....what happened that season? We can't afford for him to have a season like that for us.
Neumann - Generally very good numbers in North America, but his one venture to date on the larger ice of Europe was a bit of a failure. I see him as our 1st line centre, so we really need him to produce his North American form.
Raska - Never played outside the Czech Republic before and generally low numbers in their top league. Will he be able to do a Latal and put up good numbers in our league? Generally the Czechs have been good for us.
The remaining forwards are all a known quantity and we have a good idea what we'll be getting.
I do like the variety in our forwards this year and if Fox's judgement is good, I think we're in for a very entertaining season.
