With regards to toughness. There’s roughness that’s protective- Desbien, Allison, Kruse who contribute. Then there’s stupidity.
I think with McNally, if he was used right then we would have that but he seem frustrated which ends up with him lashing out.
I’d be pretty peeved if I was sat watching refs not call stuff, opposing players taking liberties and my own players not stepping up and my coach not using me effectively he must be as frustrated as hell. I know I would be.
You can’t be the above if you’re not allowed to be. It’s no surprise that 2 of our biggest disappointments have been Mitchell and McNally. We’ve been sold how they are gritty and in your face yet they haven’t really shown it. You have to wonder why?
Our best teams all have had team toughness and with those 2, Dowd, Phillips, Conolly Jones, we have plenty, I don’t feel it’s been used right.

I get your general points for sure, but never in a month of Sundays would I include Philips, Connolly and Jones when talking about team toughness.Sully wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 7:28 amWith regards to toughness. Especially Connolly, who creates scuffles but never ever backs it up.

I get what you’re saying.
Jones and Philips (Davey) are more than capable of dropping the gloves if needed, Conolly can antagonise in the mould of Cranston but he has nobody there to back him up to really play his game.
I’m not one for the clowns who are there just for fighting purposes. They’re a waste of a spot on the roster.

Just a side note, I see the attendance was recorded as 7048 I looked around and it seemed more like 4000+ to me so I dont know where the extra 3000 came from, dont know what other people thought

Hi Rob
I thought it was much closer to 7000 because a lot of top seats were taken

Desbiens and fitzy were outstanding in there roles and we will be lucky to see the likes again unfortunately. Fitzy totally intimidating and would stand up for his teammates against anybody and desbiens just an excellent all round power forward.these 2 allowed there teammates to play without fear because they knew they would be straight on there shoulders if any thing kicked off. Ps crowdwise definitely 7000 ther on Saturday.

Give me a Vial, Alisson, King, Desbiens & Fitzgerald over this modern day soft hockey that's on show.Steve wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 3:05 pmDesbiens and fitzy were outstanding in there roles and we will be lucky to see the likes again unfortunately. I feel privileged to have seen every single one of those guys play in Orange.
