@Doom yep good points. I always felt Saucerman and Diffley were a good combo - but I’m probably guilty of harking back to the grand slam season.

Heard I would see as stepping into Tremblay’s role, and being that 3rd/4th line role player rather than a consistent scorer, although he did have streaks.

Once it was known he was carrying an injury early doors, it all made sense re Dougherty. I seem to remember he finished in the top 10/11 on +/-.

I wonder how big a role Steele will be entrusted with - just thinking if Dougherty did return do we then get 2 or 3 new faces on D..

I was disappointed Sauce didn't come back last season, but i wouldn't have him now.

I'm surprised there's no enthusiasm for Dougherty. When he signed I think many of us thought he would be a top defenceman.

He had a slow start which is reflected by his numbers, but I suspect post Christmas he was comfortably top of our +/-.

Maybe he just took a bit of time to adapt to our league or Fox's systems.

Dougherty was playing injured first part of the year, and did pick up second half. I think what he didn't bring enough of was 2 way play. So whilst he did some good work in the D zone, he couldn't provide the outlet passes etc that we needed.

I've got a feeling we're going to look for a very experienced D to play with Steele, and the final 2 will be a more physical D to play with Cormier, and the other will be to play with Diff - hopefully another 2 way D with decent offensive instincts and shot. We need to get more shots through from D than we did last year, again something Dougherty didn't do enough.

Fox does like a Finn.

Leevi Teissala added to the roster with another Finn still to come.

Difficult to make a judgement on this because of the league he's come from.

His points totals look quite poor, but it is a difficult league to play in and he will have probably played on the lower lines.

Positives to take out of this:

He's only 25 so far from past his best.

He's never been a minus on a Liiga season. In fact the last 2 seasons he's finished 3rd on his teams +/-, which suggests he plays both ends of the ice.

His goal scoring looks really poor, although my mate reckons the conversion between Liiga and EIHL generally works out around 2.3.

On that basis his goal conversion to our 54 game league would be:

25/26 - 9 goals
24/25 - 31 goals
23/24 - 13 goals

Really difficult to pin a figure down for him....very much a wait and see signing.

Yeah statistically doesn’t look great, so I wonder if he’s a speed/tempo guy primarily. I noticed also he’s a RW, for me, I hope this doesn’t mean Tait is now a goner…

I would imagine this is a 2nd/3rd line RW toss up with Jasper maybe

No disrespect to anyone but I love how people compare stats from previous times when they are here there are so many things that changed not least the coach

A big welcome to Leevi Teissala
I’m very happy to be coming to Sheffield and taking on a new challenge with the Steelers, When I heard the Steelers were interested, I watched videos of the club and was excited straight away when I saw the arena and the huge fan base.
After speaking with Aaron, I’m really looking forward to my role with the team. My aim is to add offence and create chances. Over the last few seasons I’ve played in a variety of roles, so it will be nice to get back to the style of game I enjoy most. I like to play with the puck, make plays and be creative. Creating opportunities for teammates is a big part of my game and something I take great pride in.
Aaron Fox:
Leevi is a hard-working, competitive winger who plays with a ton of pace and isn’t afraid to get involved in all areas of the ice. He brings valuable experience from Liiga and produced some very good numbers there, especially at a young age.
I believe Leevi plays a strong two-way game and has the ability to create offence with his speed and skill. He has excellent hands and is at his best in traffic, where he can make plays and generate scoring opportunities.
Leevi is at a great age in his career and I think he has the potential to be a big-time point producer for us. We’re excited to see that skill level and what he will bring to our lineup.

It's off season and there's not really much to chat about.

We've not seen the new players yet, so all we really have to go on are the interviews and the stats.

A bit of stat chat helps to kill the next few months, along with line predictions.....all part of a Saturday night out with my mates. :Smiled:

will have to wait and see how he fits into the overall jigsaw puzzle of the team, stats i dont personally bother about, seems a typical fox signing,,, has some speed and a two way player which is always good when rosters are not the biggest,,

Veteran forward Sean Collins signs.

Don’t know how old he is but he’s experienced and if his face off is good that’s what we needed.

He is 37. Just checked. Very much at the tail end of a long career. But he emphasised his pride in his face off capabilities.
