What ever was Fox thinking about, pulling his netminder in level OT? I’ve tried very hard and I just cannot think of any good reason to do that. Unless!…..he was sparing his netminder from having to stop penalties?
A very odd decision. With nothing to play for, was he favouring Coventry over Cardiff?

Sorry but it does matter. We paid for our tickets and we sat through an evening of mediocre Steelers. We didn’t leave. We stayed to watch OT. We deserved to see our team battle to the end. Instead they committed suicide in the most ludicrous fashion.

Game On

Turned out to be as expected, a flat uninspiring game, golod 77 looks like he will be a decent pick up. Lets get this chl game out of the way.and crack on domestically,,,

I heard a few people whining about pulling the goalie but I was happy for him to do it.

Fox is the coach and it's his call. At that stage we couldn't finish any higher or lower so my thought was that he decided to test the opportunity in case we're in the position where it's a necessity.

Anyone getting upset over it should give their heads a wobble, tonight's game was always a dead rubber from a Steelers perspective, hence the starting goalie.

As we pulled the netminder in OT, does that mean we surrender the one point gained from getting into OT?

I seem to remember a vague NHL rule along those lines...

Another alternative I've thought about. Could it have been a time issue?

Undoubtedly the more important game is in Fife.

Did Fox just want to get OT over as quick as possible to get the players showered and back home ASAP.

It might only have saved 10 minutes, but possibly that was behind his thinking.

It will be interesting to hear his logic behind the decision.

Post game Fox has said he just wanted to practice our 4 on 3, because the powerplay had been much better recently.

He's the gaffer with the long term plan. We'll have far more important games than that last night.

The game meant more to Coventry who can now qualify if they beat Cardiff at home.

Well I've never seen that before in any game anywhere ! Certainly now gives us a chance of playing Coventry instead of Cardiff in the semi final, although I guess it may be the Panthers .
I can't believe it was to save 10 minutes or that Foxy didn't trust an international goalie in a shoot out . The result didn't matter any way so that may have been the reason, …lets try something for fun !
Livened up the evening I reckon. Coventry played well and deserved something.
