Awful first, much better after.

Balmas rolling now, good comeback game for Watling and thought Guimond was excellent again. Pass for the first was perfect.

Definitely getting closer to the level we know they are capable of.

Also some praise needed for Miceli - thought he looked excellent, and helps add creativity in the bottom 6. Would not be shocked if he starts ahead of Janutainen now Ciampini is back. Feel for JJ, he started well in CHL, but wondering if he's struggling to adapt to EIHL. He's obviously got talent which we see in flashes, but can't seem to work out how to get it going consistently. Very tough especially after such bad injury issues.

Seemed to me that our players were facing the wrong way when receiving passes, whether that was due to bad positioning or bad passes, either way it slowed our attack.
It also looked like we were trying to walk the puck in to the net and having see that their NM would rebound out to the front of his net it would have been worth some one getting there when on the rush.

I thought Balmas started the season slowly and looked off the pace, but like you say, he's really rolling now.

Of all the forwards Juusola is the one catching my eye so far, he's been consistently good from the first game.

I'm not sure what to make of Janatuinen, I suspect he'll be the one sitting out Saturday. He's done well in the CHL, but really struggled to adapt to the EIHL.

In Finland his numbers prior to his issues were slightly better than Juusola's, so there's clearly a quality player in there somewhere. Hopefully he's not suffering from his previous issues and he finds his game, because if we can get him firing with Balmas, Juusola etc, we'll be in a good place.
