Our forwards couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat.
And if someone with far superior knowledge of this sport could explain to me what all the fuss over Petgrave is then I'd be ever so grateful because tonight he annoyed the hell out of me.

Well its the morning after the night before! All the factors that you could think about combined to contribute to that result.
Complacency.
We played at 80% of our usual pace and there was a overall lack of physicality/intensity from us.
The finishing was terrible. Our shot count was huge, but we had so many off target and ones we did were pretty regular saves for the Dundee netminder. We had so many chances from 6 feet out that we were unable to bury.
The D (usually Petgrave) continue to overcommit too much of the time leading to quality odd man rushes for Dundee on many occasions. Luckily Greenfield baled us out on most occasions.
The rolling of the 5 D made the D look quite uncertain as they weren't playing regularly with their usual D partner and Piche was missed also for what he brings to the table.
I dont think Fox was best pleased with the second Dundee goal as conceded with both D men overcommitting on the play-think Neva and Petgrave were on the ice. As he suggested we should have played more solid and maybe settled for OT and/or penalty shots.
A disastrous result for sure.

To answer my own question - in our last eight home league matches against the Stars (from start of 2019 till now) our record is:
3-4-1
Therefore 9 out of 16 points dropped

I made a comment on a previous poor game that we needed more shots on goal to be told our shot count was high. This is what I was seeing. No good shots on target. I thought we’d got past that after recent results.paul johnston wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 7:36 amThe finishing was terrible. I didn’t see the game but I guess it was a mix of complacency, team reshuffle because of Piche and Mitchell.
Once doubt and negativity start to get into their minds they don’t seem to be able to shake it off.
Let’s hope we get a quick and strong response.
Having not seen the game, with my positive head on, I think we just have to chalk it up to a bad night at the office.
Hopefully the newer players will learn that playing at 80% even against the so called lesser teams will not guarantee a win. Although I would have thought professional players will already know that!
The old adage, you learn more from losing than winning applies here I think.
2 x exhibition games now in the CC, so an opportunity to re-group and get ready for the next league games.

Just watched the highlights. We looked lethargic and slow. Greenfield will want both the goals back as well.
Would have liked to see some sore losering at the end from us with the scramble as well.
Very much a bad night at the office.

Late to this one but was very poor. We had a strong first period showing against a Dundee side who’d clearly set out their plan to park the bus the hit us on the break, a good choice given our offensive D overcommit often.
Goes without saying we had more than enough chances to win the game, nothing wrong with our creativity but our finishing was hopeless and Svensson didn’t make a “wow” save all evening, routine stuff for him.
I think the 5D did cause issues with the change, had just got settled into decent defensive performances before this.
Biggest issue was we looked flat all evening, bar Mitchell flattening Devon Daniels on his first shift there was no physicality of note, not even any roughing around the net front. Just seemed a lack of intensity all round which was what did it for us.
