I thought Connelly's reaction was defensive to an aggressor/instigator but as DOPS has proved over recent years (and the club has confirmed) I know nothing.
We didn't get to Sunday's game so can't comment on the Pellech incident.
Pellech's cross check to the head, was far far worse than what Brendan Connolly got a game for, but hey come on, he obviously had the wrong name on his shirt!
Are you saying DOPS is biased and inconsistent.
That's a bit far fetched.

DoPS biased and inconsistent? Who'd have thought that....

Just checked the EIHL webite, no DOPS news yet for Pelech. All 5 Min penalties are automatically reviewed.
Whilst I don't think his OR Connolloy's was a game ban, it will be interesting to see if DOPS actually manage to be consistent.
With the GB Olympic games fast approaching be interesting to see if any of the squad picks up a ban ahead the games; thinking particularly of Connolly as he seems to get selective treatment from officials and DOPS.
At its monthly meeting on 21 January, the Elite Ice Hockey League Board approved the use of the EIHL ‘Situation Room’.
The EIHL Situation room staff is made up of a mixture of Coaches, Officials and Player Safety staff. With the officials, we have over 100 years of NHL on-ice experience and still involved at the highest level of the sport in North America and Europe' 45 years' professional coaching experience across the NHL, AHL, ECHL, and Europe; and finally Player Safety staff who are involved in similar setups for other professional leagues worldwide. EIHL Situation room staff have full scope to tag or cut plays to be looked at by the Department of Player Safety after the game.
I am truly lost for words reading that link, i cant quite get it right in my head!
Dont we just need better and more consistent officiating in the first place or am I missing the point...
I admit it could just be me, but it all seem a little bit unnecessarily complicated...
Changing the culture of the game means sterilising it. If you give someone a whistle they will blow it. If you ask someone to scrutinise a game live with replays available they will not sit there for 60 minutes and say they saw nothing wrong. This will lead to more bans, more players becoming characterless drones and less entertaining dull , non contact games.
When I played football, you wore shin pads and tough protective boots, you expected to get kicked now and then but it was a great game. Now , with VAR etc ,you can get sent off for the slightest contact as long as your ( unhurt ) opponent goes rolling around in apparent but temporary agony.
Ice hockey is going this way in my opinion and I for one don't welcome it.
I wonder if There's a big red button in the situation room that When Hicksy presses it who ever the ref in our game gets an electric shock that makes them put their arm up for a Steelers penalty.
