So if (big if) all rumours were to be confirmed and being realistic with who is likely to ice on what line I have something like this.

Import-Morley-Import
Vallerand-Neumann-Ciampini
Import-Simpson-Dowd
Import-Whistle-Graham

Tansey-Saucerman
Petgrave-Diffley
Import-Jones

Greenfield
Morrone
Brit Backup

Would look okay, two high end first line wingers and we’ll be in a good place. If they’re average additions (I.e we’re actually looking for our 2nd line wingers now) then we may struggle to attain silverware, albeit still a decent squad of players.
I think you're being a tad optimistic, but if that is our lineup I'd feel reasonably optimistic, especially if we could throw Nevalainen in there.

I've not seen the Diffley rumour....Is that Brien? He looks a decent enough stay at home defenceman.

Regards

Yeah that’s the one. Diffley was rumoured on one of the Twitter accounts that are usually there or thereabouts.

From The Star (https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/ice-hoc ... er-4194535) it looks like Ciampini is making a return for next season in orange.

Unless he's on a second line, I really can't say I'm particularly enthralled....

If we could have something like:

import - import - import
Ciampini - Neumann - import
Vallerand - Dowd - Simpson

I'd be very happy with that

Agreed.

I'm not seeing much imagination yet in our recruitment.

To be fair, if you'd asked me in early February I would have wanted Ciampini back, but like so many others he fell away badly.

Another year older, will he be taking another step down the declining ladder?

Me neither. Whilst he’s certainly not a bad player by any means, surely we can do better?

Surely he would after be second line how can you justify a player that didn’t even finish top 20 in the league on the first?

Just get the feeling that we are re- signing crowd favourites regardless of last years performances and that we already have our first line. Just a feeling.

If that is the case then I can't see better than 3rd or 4th place next season.

In The Star article recently Tony Smith was quoted as saying he'd like to see a brand new 1st line, although the quote was taken from a few months ago.

If the signings to date don't include any 1st line forwards I'd feel quite encouraged, but if there are 2 or more already signed then I think we're in trouble.

I guess time will tell.
