Rumour accounts on X/Twitter that are usually reliable have Marco De Filippo joining as our 2nd import netminder.

Slightly better stats than Morrone in the same leagues so would expect similar quality. Always hard to tell with goalies though

The only obvious difference between De Filippo and Morrone is their age.
Morrone was at the early part of his career, whereas De Filippo is probably at the latter end of his career.
Stats wise they both look fairly similar.
Also it's good to see he played plenty of games last season, so he doesn't appear to be a crock like a certain netminder from two seasons ago.
Overall he looks OK for a backup, although I would be concerned if we needed him in for any longer spells, because I don't see him being at Greenfield level.

I was at a BBQ last night with my hockey friends and needless to say the discussion turned to the current squad.
My mate who always does lots of stats has added in all the rumoured players listed above.
Defensively we're all very happy. Netminding should be very good again and retaining two of the best defensive pairings in the league is great business.
Betker looks a solid replacement for Jones, although I think we'll struggle to find a Nev equivalent.
Forwards are the biggest concern. My mate who had us down as top scorers last season and proved to be correct, currently has us 4th. We're close to Nottingham, about 10 behind Cardiff, but Belfast are so far off in the distance they're a little dot.
He doesn't have any of the new guys down for 20 or more goals, so we're down quite a lot from last season.
I guess that's the problem with retaining so many, they'll all be deserving of a pay rise, but that leaves less money in the pot to replace those who leave.
I wonder how many Uni places we'll be using next season.

The rumour on THF suggested Tremblay would be on a two way with Dogs and Steelers, although I'm not sure how that would work with an import.
If it's Allen instead of Tremblay, would that be on a two way?
There's going to be an interesting few weeks coming up. The main thing I want to hear though is that Balmas is back for next season.

2 way players only count towards overall squad numbers when they ice for a game.Doom wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2024 9:19 pmThe rumour on THF suggested Tremblay would be on a two way with Dogs and Steelers, although I'm not sure how that would work with an import.

Tremblay on a 2 way would be great. I think if it's Allen, then on paper, it would be him and Miceli potentially battling for the final import forward spot. Gives great cover for any injuries, or even a rest game for others.
Fingers crossed on Balmas announcement this week!
