Well that was dire. Their pp is better than ours hence their goal. Apart from the early goal we look a shambles. Hard to believe this is the team with the best points per game rating.
Add to that the totally incomprehensible commentary, it wasn’t a great period.

I imagine Foxy said a few things after the first. That was better. The pp still ineffective and some poor passing. We don’t seem to be able to sustain an attack it’s all a bit one shot stuff. Watling looks back to his normal self thank goodness.

As expected a victory, these long away trips to a team that you are expected to beat can be easy to slip up against. And its these odd unexpected defeats that can be the difference at end of season to winning league or not. Luckily no such defeat tonight. Roll on tuesday, get this chl game out of way, one way or another and then get focused on domestic games. I do feel there is so much more to come from this team, not there at moment
This was definitely the most important game of the weekend, so delighted to get the win.
We're a long way off the standards we set last season in so many areas, but even so, we top our Challenge Cup group and are well placed in the league, so it's not so bad.
There's plenty to work on though.
Faceoffs currently 49.6%....Last season at this time I recall it being mid fifties.
Powerplay 16%....Last season high twenties.
Penalty kill 75%.....Last season mid eighties.
That's a substantial drop off in the numbers, I wonder why. Is it the change of personnel or perhaps the distraction of the CHL?
If we can start improving those numbers and get them closer to last season, we'll be a very difficult team to stop.
Well done to Mark Simpson. It's just like buses, he'd not managed a league goal so far this season, then 3 come along.
Regards
