Mark, I am sorry but I take a little exception to your proposal. It is not my fault that all the EIHL clubs charge £15 or £16 . The idea that you we should foresake watching and following our beloved team in the ridiculous hope that this would bring the price down doesn’t deserve serious consideration.
I didn't make any proposal !. However I am convinced that none of the EIHL webcasts can be considered good value for money, especially from the likes of Manchester which seems to be filmed on a potato, and most are using "fans" rather than decent commentators/summarisers. When viewed in context with almost any other PPV sport EIHL Ice Hockey is over priced, more so if you take a monthly view. I accept the Steelers have the best offering of any UK club with the best commentary team out there but at a couple of quid less than a match night ticket I still believe it is over priced

You have no grasp of market economics if you think that fewer people watching would not have an effect on price, the principle of demand v pricing is well established as is the effect of no competition in a market. Customers can move market prices so it is not ridiculous to suggest that fewer viewers cannot bring prices down. Neither am I suggesting that you should neither watch nor follow the team, I manage to see all the highlights and follow the live scores without paying over the odds for a youtube stream.

It is instructive that the pricing for these CHL games, which are of a higher standard than EIHL work out around a fiver per game, that for me is a realistic price and shows it can be done.

No Mark, read it again. It’s the idea that we should all foresake webcast that is totally absurd

We need to get real about this. The CHL games are not equivalent to EIHL. Because they are between clubs from different countries, there is highly likely to be a low attendance from them and many supporters would then appreciate a webcast. (Perhaps hundreds or even thousands). I’m sure they’ve done their market research. However just imagine what would happen if Steelers charged £3.75 for a webcast. It’s not rocket science to work out that would be highly likely to reduce arena attendance. That’s the relevant market economics. Far from it being a reasonable price it would be suicidal. Where the break even point on this must be established before you can argue for any reduction in price. I don’t know what it is.

It also appears you can watch on the CHL website, but UK is region blocked.

I imagine if you have a VPN you might be able to get round that, but prices certainly not terrible for the CHL streams.

In terms of EIHL streaming - it's now normalised at the price point it is. So no team is going to take a drop in revenue by just lowering prices. If over a season they see less stream purchases, then that could have an effect. Otherwise, they'll maintain the current level. Personally I can't get to loads of games physically due to various reasons, so streaming has been my saviour over the last few seasons. Luckily I think I'll be able to be at the arena more now, but to me I'd have put more in to the club by going, so have never minded the stream price (especially since ours is such good quality).

It's the argument on league stream service or TV deal. I don't know numbers but as an example, if 1000 people buy a stream, that's £16k revenue. No one is going to voluntarily half that if they cannot recoup elsewhere.

It is absurd, because I never said that, I said prices will not change while ever people are prepared to pay these prices. That is a undeniable fact , stop putting words in my mouth.

Number of years ago as two couples we attended every Steelers game home and away. Out of interest did a spread sheet including car travel at 30p/mile,tickets, food, hotels etc. For the four of us the seasons costs came to just over £12,500. Even comparing ten year old costs with todays streaming prices it is difficult to argue about value for money
