GAME THREAD: Cardiff Devils v Sheffield Steelers, Wednesday 20th March 7:30pm
Moderator: Mods
If I could pick the results of the next 3 games, I think I'd like to see:
@ Cardiff - We lose on penalty shots, meaning we're on 80 points and Cardiff can still get 83.
@ Nottingham - We win putting us on to 82 points, meaning we can win it on home ice.
v Guidlford - We win meaning the trophy can be presented to us in front of our supporters.
I think that scenario would also guarantee a sell-out, meaning more money in the coffers for Tony, which is no bad thing for our club.
I get why people might want it over as soon as possible and I'm sure that's what Fox and the team are aiming for, but I'd prefer to see us win it in front of 9,000 Steelers supporters rather than a hundred or so in Cardiff.
For obvious reasons there wouldn't be the same in your face enjoyment of winning it in Nottingham this year.

Is there a scenario where we can receive the trophy at home wherever we win it... Surely the league is not crass enough to present the trophy in front of the Nottingham Fans...Doom wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2024 10:03 amIf I could pick the results of the next 3 games, I think I'd like to see:

Probably a better way of me putting it is to say I'd rather win it on home ice.Jayboy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2024 2:40 pmIs there a scenario where we can receive the trophy at home wherever we win it... I guess they can present the trophy whenever it's agreeable to both parties and I'm sure they wouldn't want to do it in Nottingham.
For me there would be more excitement going into the arena on Sunday knowing a minimum of 1 point wins it for us.....it would feel like another final.
Turning up for the trophy celebration on Sunday having already won it would be fun, but it just wouldn't have the same edge to it.

League title is a strange one in respect that its the main one to win but you dont always get to celebrate it there and then like a one off cup game.. Would be nice to take it at home,,,,,but if its winnable before then i say take it and celebrate with fans at next home game

Regardless of if we win it in either Cardiff or Nottingham, why does the trophy have to be presented that night? Surely any team winning the league would wish to celebrate in front of their own fans in their own arena?

You can still have it paraded around the Arena at the end of the next home game for the fans to celebrate of course.Keith Sheppard wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2024 3:07 pmRegardless of if we win it in either Cardiff or Nottingham, why does the trophy have to be presented that night?
