Total respect for him going when he chooses to, I hope he goes and isn’t tempted to do a Sarich and keep coming back.

His number should hang in the rafters/concourse.

I hope that the shirt from his last game is handed to him, rather than auctioned as the club senses an opportunity to get a lot of money from an auction, I suspect the league Play Off shirts will go for quite a bit.

What can we say about this man...

An absolute gent off the ice, always had time to speak to anyone of us, should it be at the Arena, shopping at Meadowhall or walking round the park he made time for any hockey fan.

We've come to know & love Captain Jono Phillip's from his arrival mid way through the 2006 season his energy on the ice has never been matched by any other player in all the years he's been here, if only we had the work rate & dedication of this man running through the team, then we would be in an excellent place.

Next season will be surreal for the 1st time in 18 years we won't be seeing 'Captain Phillips has signed a new 1 year deal" we won't be seeing him skating round our rink, we won't be seeing him excelling on the power kill for our team, he will be a MASSIVE loss not only to our Sheffield Steelers but to the EIHL on a whole.

I hope, I pray, I wish that come the end of the season, weather it's the league title or playoffs title, I for one want Jono to have that last piece of silverware & go out on a huge high, the man deserves it.

Thank you for 17 years of service, 17 years of wearing our colours & 17 years of being one of the most genuine guys I've come across.

Happy retirement #20 all the best.

I really, really hope we can win a Trophy so Jono can bow out on a high. We might need a coaching change though for that to happen.

Jono deserves much, much better.
