At £120 a ticket I am not surprised ..
To clarify I would love to take my family to playoffs, especially 10 years ago when it was worth going.
But anyone paying out £120 a ticket must have a great deal more disposable income than I have, or seriously need to give their head a wobble if they haven't but go anyway!

Play off final weekend ticket Prices!!

I had a look at the Nottingham Arena website and there a loads of seats. In the Nottinghamshire block 15, dead centre you can get 12 seats in row R, and you can get 12 seats in block 10 row O for the Clan, 12 seats in our block and the `Belfast block.. Unless you guys qualify and Nottingham I think it’ll be around 3200 in attendance. The sheer greed of the ticket pricing is going to seriously backfire and leave the coffers in dire straights.
A real shame….
A real shame….
Well if those numbers are correct then it completely serves the league right for ripping off it's customers. I have no sympathy for them at all.
It will be interesting to see if the prices drop a little nearer the time.
I wish I had that sort of disposable income for the 2,000 or so that have bought tickets.

It would be cheaper for the league powers to cancel the whole event and give fans their money back, than to run an event with the place virtually empty, of course you can't do that because of all the hotel accommodation booked etc but I am with @smbmetal on this one..
and secondly what about the 2 thousand or so that paid full price?
It seems to me it's been a monumental cock up from the beginning
The obvious problems with dropping prices, firstly they have to admit they were too dam expensive in the first place and that means admitting they were wrong! When has that ever happened.?smbmetal wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 8:31 amWell if those numbers are correct then it completely serves the league right for ripping off it's customers. I can't say I'm surprised if only 2,000 tickets have been sold, the EIHL really have got this horribly wrong.
I think there will be a surge of ticket sales when the qualifiers are known, because I suspect a lot of supporters don't feel like they can justify paying £120 if their team aren't even there. I can't see it getting close to 7,000 though, even if Sheffield and Nottingham make the weekend.
I understand the league have taken a financial hammering due to Covid, but upping ticket prices by 50% doesn't work if the numbers attending drop by the same amount.
There are also the other impacts this will have on our sport:
- A half empty arena will look shocking on live TV.
- Fewer supporters will mean less merchandise sold.
- Fewer supporters travelling to Nottingham will mean less likelihood of Nottingham Council subsidising the event in the future.
- For those who do attend the event won't have the same feel, which may put them off attending future playoffs.
I'm still intending going, because the weekend is one of the highlights of the year for me, but it doesn't mean I can't be appalled by the short sighted attitude of the league.

Its not just disposable income, it's also about value for money. Which this isn't.smbmetal wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 8:31 amWell if those numbers are correct then it completely serves the league right for ripping off it's customers. I have no sympathy for them at all.

And how many fans would go if it was value for money and considerably cheaper.. Many more than fleecing the customer with over priced tut.. The weekend isn't anywhere near the event it was..
I would like to bet you if Sheffield held the Playoff next year they would go all out to at the very least make it a better event, including bringing back the stals and including activities to welcome the families back, like the bouncy castle, face painting and test the goalie etc..

It's many years since I last went to the playoffs and it was one of the first times that Nottingham with it's new shiny arena hosted the playoffs and I very much enjoyed it. They opened the 2nd ice pad and filled it with sales stores and there was plenty going on outside the arena.Jayboy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 10:02 pmAnd how many fans would go if it was value for money and considerably cheaper.. Upon going again a few years later, all this was gone and it was just like going to an everyday ice hockey game. It didn't feel particularly special for a finals weekend and certainly not value for money for me.
I think Sheffield would host the playoffs very well. With the extra capacity which could be 10,000 with extra seats, tickets could be made cheaper and there's plenty of room for stalls etc. However if you listen to Todd Kelman from a recent fan forum, Sheffield doesn't have anywhere near to stay or anywhere to eat.
