Although not surprised, I’d have happily taken Tremblay back if he wanted to return. Sure I read he wasn’t coming back to the UK anyway at the end of the season, when he re-signed for this season.

For me, Tremblay is all what being a Sheffield Steelers player should be. Hard work, maximum effort, with a bit of snarl all mixed in. A few players could learn a lot about proper work ethic from Tremblay.

I’ve certainly enjoyed seeing him play. Fox has deployed him on every single line, which shows the dependability of the player.

Good luck Tremblay, thanks for your efforts

A few comments about a "proper steelers player", so let's define that. Personal opinion only but for me it is a player who regardless of their skill level gives you 100% of what they have, same with effort and commitment, they give everything they have regardless of whether it's a playoff final or a midweek nothing game after a long coach journey. All of our legends brought that to the table for me, Tremblay may not have been around long enough as a Steelers player but he clearly played in that same manner as the likes of Tommy Plommer, Rick Brebant etc, he gave us everything he had and that's why I wish him the best going forward.

And for me thats the type of player we need when I mention the character players, good or bad, most skilful or 4th line centre. a player that plays 100 for the badge on the front and gives everything they have regardless of the game..

Proper Steelers player:- turns up every game and gives 100%. Never say die attitude when games are going against us. Stands up for team mates, if someone takes a liberty, they pay for it. Is that too much to ask for?

Actually I am not sure I believe that... harder to find yes and hard to do due diligence on them once you do, when their character isn't a stat or you dont have a scouting system anymore, that sees them play, put there are loads of players still play hockey exactly like this and how it always used to be, but coaches dont want them or cant coach them... So you see more of the skilful players and lots more of the vanilla players because the have a stat you can measure and maybe even quantify that fits neatly into a jigsaw... where as the actual recipe of a great hockey team as a few round pegs fitting into square holes... and many time they are rough around the edges... But a coach cant take a chance on a player like that when they get a limited time to get teams put together and no actual room for players that dont fit instantly. Some of our best players have come in late or as replacements for injury cover when the coaching staff was left with little or no choice who they could afford or even find...
A lot of these players come to a team with a chip on their shoulders with something to prove, because maybe do to circumstances they have been overlooked or even had an unfair tilt in another team... :wonder:

Catching up after a few days not eagerly checking for news - so sad to see Sam Tremblay not returning. For me that’s a big big loss, or at least, a big hole to fill.

As everyone has commented one of our standout character players, when he re-signed last year I remember Fox saying “we are a better team with him in the line up”, and for me it was tangibly different when he was missing. We were noticeably flatter, as was the atmosphere.

Good luck #18 - you will be missed.

Huttula is down as leaving/retiring below. How do we know this, it’s not been confirmed by the club yet? I think he did ok but if we’re improving the D I think we could do better.

Otherwise looking good so far.

He wasn't on my returnee list, so can't say I'm disappointed to see him leave.
