well the w/end says it all 1-8 loss at home,,,,,,, this shows the gulf betwween top and us. The steelers at the moment are stagnating and living in the past. Overhaul needed,,,, starting from top downward,,,,,,,, cant go on staying in rose tinted past,,,,,,
Easy peasy for Belfast. They had a game plan and completely stuck to it.
In fact, in this game they easily had another couple of gears if we had managed to score more than 1 goal in 6 periods.
We look like a team of individuals with a coach who just doesn’t have a clue how to change the flow in these types of games. Let’s be honest we’ve had one fantastic season under Fox, the rest just haven’t been good enough especially with the budget and expectations of the Sheffield Steelers.
This team might not even get to the playoff weekend if we continue to play games like this.
Dead rubber games now until the playoffs, although I doubt it will be a difficult sell, while 8,000+ turn up each game, the owner has no reason to change anything.

Well you said it was a boring game and that 3rd period was exactly that because Belfast shut it down.smbmetal wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2026 6:59 pmEasy peasy for Belfast. They had a game plan and completely stuck to it.

I don’t think the rest of our games will be as frustrating as that but they are dead rubbers.
Belfast did a great job, but to beat strategies like that you play with fast, intense, physical in your face hockey, not giving their defence a second to rest. We played with hardly any intensity the whole game.steeler pete wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2026 7:21 pmWell you said it was a boring game and that 3rd period was exactly that because Belfast shut it down.smbmetal wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2026 6:59 pmEasy peasy for Belfast. This weekend was a perfect opportunity to say to Belfast that although they might be the favourite for the title we would do everything in our power to make it as difficult as possible, what did we do instead? Rolled over on our backs and let our bellies be tickled.
Not good enough.
In fact I think Tremblay summed the weekend up nicely…
“There’s no excuse on a back-to-back, we had four lines and we should have come out harder than we did,” admitted Steelers’ Samuel Tremblay. “These were the biggest games of the season at this point. It’s disappointing.”

Very disappointed after this weekend. I still believe this team on a good night has the potential to beat any of the other teams., What we don't have is enough will to win or a coach that can change the flow of play - no Plan B. Very frustrating

I think a lot of us have been saying for a long time that this team has some good players but not enough to be a trophy winning team .
The famed Steelers mentality just doesn't seem to be there.
We can thrash the teams who are low in the league but when we come to a big game against a top team we struggle big time, panic and desperation soon set in and big mistakes follow.
When I look at the passing accuracy , stick control and shooting ability in these matches it falls well behind what I know these players are capable of. They seem to have a fear of failure and this translates to a jittery performance .
Do I know how to fix it? …Not a clue , but I fear we will need changes in personnel big time if we are to compete with teams like Belfast tonight.

Very disappointing weekend, Smith must be pulling his hair out with season ticket renewals just announced. Why was a timeout not called before our disastrous net minder pull? I know we had a good weekend in the face off department, but with over 2 minutes left why not leave Mac in his net until offensive zone possession had been achieved? All together too passive in all areas.

Well a very poor experience this weekend. Myself and my son attended both games and came away utterly deflated. The team was NOT a team as someone else remarked the passing accuracy was so poor. We spent a lot of money this weekend on tickets food, travel etc.. but with little reward from the hockey both the results but more so the lack of effort. Mac did well in the goal on Sunday with little to no cover from the defence.
There was hardly ever anyone in the Belfast crease and no physicality what so ever. Playoffs are going to be hard to watch again and perhaps a little humiliating.
