Game On

Need to be getting watling up to speed asap before we starting losing ground on other teams, at moment we are hanging in there but that one extra player could be a big turning point for us and give us that x factor we need to push on in second half of season,,,,, hopefully

Am I the only one worrying about these mid period breaks? Why do some clubs have them and others not? Who decides when to call it?
Holdover from when we used to have tv coverage, most clubs dropped them, Nottingham haven't.
Strange how they are often called when panthers are under pressure.
Strange how you’ve put your own perception on the situation.

The power breaks are called on the first stoppage when there is 11:59 or less left in a period unless the stoppage is a goal, an icing or any scenario where a team is not permitted a line change.

Hope the explanation helps your understanding.

I disagree with the suggestion that the timing is done to benefit the Panthers as I have seen it also break their own rhythm when they may be on top. However there is no reason they should have the power break at all, it's clearly not required by league rules and it should be abandoned.

In theory I agree I would rather they didn’t exist at all, but for as long as the league permit them even if not mandatory across the league, Panthers will use it as a commercial opportunity as each one of the breaks is sponsored in some way.

I agree, it should either be a league ruling that ALL teams have to have a power break or no one does.

In terms of the power breaks we have them in Belfast also, I have seen us both lose and gain from them on terms of momentum etc, during our breaks they skate round the edges and clean the ice I assume to stop it building up and slowing the puck up.

I watched last night's games as neutral as nothing else on TV and have to say it was a decent game, I think the Panthers first goal was good and having the benefit of the replays I didn't think there was enough if any interference on Greenfield for the goal. If I remember correctly Steelers had a breakaway chance at 3 2 which could have killed the game but instead of shooting the puck they overplayed and went for the pass when it looked easier to score. Good result for the Giants and if and it's a big IF we win our games in hand we would go top, some big home double headers in the 2nd half of the season should be a great title run in.

Fife beat Belfast ( odds 1/8 )tonight. As we often say, anyone can beat anyone on a given night. Looks like the league will be a bit of a lottery between the top four this year. A good thing , probably.
