I'd have happily taken a point if offered before. Bit gutted with 2 off the bar in the 3rd but it happens.
Started to takeover in the 3rd and started to see what I think we can do in about another 5 games or so on a more regular basis.
Powerplay looked dangerous even when we didn't score, McAdam was very solid, Reece Kelly too.
Really good game of hockey though - thoroughly enjoyable

I didn't see the game, but would have taken a point beforehand and especially at 2 down.
The game stats suggest we probably edged it overall, which is a positive.
I suspect we'll have some good battles with Cardiff this season.

As ever, local game for us (living just over 'the bridge' in Wiltshire), really good game.
First 30mins Cardiff seemed to dominate and then i'd say we took over for the majority of the second half of the game. I honestly think Cardiff were lucky to win in OT; Steelers hitting the pipes twice in the third period.
I have to say, I haven't seen much from Seitz or indeed Jasper yet, especially Seitz. Hoping it's just taking a little time to adjust, I fully appreciate it's early in the season...
Positives: Our PK was outstanding (apart from in OT of course!), Our PP also looked much better than Cardiff's and was always threatening.

I thought Jasper had an excellent game - hit the pipe in the 3rd, and forced a good save from Stoever. Another day he probably comes out with at least 1 goal. Seitz probably has the biggest adjustments to make in terms of systems, only his second year pro so probably needs a bit more time.southernsteeler wrote: ↑Mon Sep 15, 2025 8:46 amAs ever, local game for us (living just over 'the bridge' in Wiltshire), really good game.

I'm not so sure that o/t ever decides who played better, it's just a means of getting a result. On the balance of play I'm quite happy with how we looked, Cardiff are always going to start fast at home and we matched them and reduced them to playing a road game of defense and breakouts. When you factor in the abbreviated pre-season we have had compared to Cardiff I have no concerns and certainly not compared to the other two title favourites in Nottingham and Belfast who have much bigger problems to sort out.
