thinking of following a UK hockey podcast this season. There's quite a few out there. Would anyone recommend any in particular? I'd be interested in insightful analysis/thinking as opposed to interviews/banter!
Any recommendations greatly received

The better webcasts in the league do put up a few bits pre game in terms of stats, but it's pretty limited. Steelers webcast one of the better ones at this, but definitely feel there's more that could be done. Appreciate it's probably adding to cost to add another couple of presenters/analyst to pre game/period breaks to give commentators a break but I feel it would add value to webcasts.Fozzie wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 9:33 amThanks @ginger , I'll check those out.
I know what you mean, I had NHL TV last season and it is good to get the insights and indepth analysis on players/other games. Thinking of getting the DEL stream this year...
You're right that without TV coverage it is expensive and time consuming for podcasters to analyse much other than their own teams games. I guess sponsorship of the podcasts would help with that and production, etc but needs the interest first.
I also think there's a lot that the teams themselves (those with screens anyway) could do to help as well, before matches, show the leagues leading points scorers, show the home and away teams stats and leading scorers on each team, have 'ones to watch' or something to help the fans understand who the best players are on the opposition team, especially early season. Think it would help grow wider understanding for those that see quite a bit of hockey but only see their own team and don't really get a knowledge of away players until they've been around a few years. But that's been a soapbox of mine for a while now!![]()
Surely this would only mean funds going to the poorest club and nothing for anyone else. In our league it would be Fife and Manchester that would benefit from this sort of arrangement.ginger wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 12:34 pm

Clubs also do great at getting highlights out quickly, and of course they want any YouTube revenue for views etc but I think a central highlights/analysis package put out by the league with view revenue split between teams again would add value - again though, finding people and the extra cost make it difficult.
Even 10 way split was what I was thinking. Not sure why it would be anything else. Whilst that might increase revenue more for smaller clubs compared to current YT views on highlights, it's not going to massively move the needle one way or the other.Firefox1001 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 3:12 pmSurely this would only mean funds going to the poorest club and nothing for anyone else.
