If, as suggested by certain Giants supporters, we made a big offer to keep Whistle, that might have been a smart move by Fox.

Giants will undoubtedly have had to up their offer to get him to move, which means less money to spend on their imports.

That's definitely the hope, and the rumoured incomers haven't been anxiety inducing (apart from Halbert, but that suggests some changes on D apart from Boudrias leaving).

That top line all returning suggests a lot of big signings already announced

Belfast sign netminder Alexis Gravel - 2 games in DEL last year, 20 games in the coast previously and then USports prior to that. Great stats in USports and his 20 game Coast stint. Not so good in his 2 games in DEL. Young (25) but looks pretty good.

He could be a very good signing for Belfast, but if it doesn't quite work out, they do have the luxury of Whistle as a back up.

Gravel is a big lad at 6'4'' and won't give much net to aim at. I suspect Keefe is always looking for another Besko, who was also a big lad.

Gravel was signed as injury cover for Mannheim during their playoff run hence only the 2 games, their starter last season is now in the NHL, he will be competing for the starting spot with Whistle and of course the luxury of Whistle in net gives us the extra import slot if we have a brit back up IE Dickson.

Cardiff re-signs Brandt. The money from the Calgary owners is drying up quickly - given their current group they will be 4th/5th next year.

Relying at the moment on Martin, McDonald, Perlini and Sanford to score.

Think they've got 1 more forward and 1 more D to go
