At least we know there won't be anything in The Star......Clowne57 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 12:19 pmAlthough what happens in the arena crowd wise is to do with Sheffield International Venues I guess, could the club be fined by the Elite League for crowd behaviour disrupting the game?
The club need to issue some comment even if its just an ‘ongoing investigation’ in to what happened.
Given the air time the club has had recently it could make the local TV news. Not the publicity we want.

Wasn’t specifically aimed at you just the general attitude of hockey fans every time there’s an altercation in the stands people say “oh it’s them football fans again” but fighting within your own fanbase is farrr more common at Sheffield arena than any football ground I’ve ever been toBryan wrote:I too watch and support football. To suggest I blamed it is just ridiculous. We all know that poor behaviour associated with drinking is commonplace around and in football grounds. We don’t want that in hockey thank you.

Club Statement
The Sheffield Steelers confirm that they are fully aware of the details of the incident that took place inside the arena last night, late in the third period, resulting in the game being suspended for several minutes.
The club is co-operating with, both the arena and police. Many of those involved have already been identified. The club and arena will take any action legally possible to ensure that those responsible do not visit our arena again for Steelers games.
The Steelers condemn the actions of those involved last night, our club is a family club, and we are committed to ensuring that the arena is a safe environment for all to watch and enjoy this incredible sport.

Pleased to see a club statement to make sure Bob Fairytale doesn’t come out of retirement to write some nonsense as a one off article in the Star.
With all the cameras in the arena, I’m sure with Police assistance suitable justice will be served.
The arena stewards have to do more though I’m afraid like is done in Nottingham to ensure people understand the correct etiquette during game play.

Firstly I’ve been to plenty of football games I’ve had a season ticket for the best part of 10 years
Secondly quoting “your” I assume to suggest I’m not a Steelers fan when I was trying to make a point about fan bases in general kind of proves my point. I was merely trying to suggest that bringing football into it is a cop-out when the person in the video has a Steelers Jersey on.
As I mentioned the stewarding at Sheffield arena isn’t up to the required standard but while it’s never really affected me as I tend keep to myself and watch the game when I go, but I’ve seen on numerous occasions someone who is clearly new probably their first game screamed at and berated to sit down if they get up rather than politely being asked to wait for a break.
And I’m not trying to tar everyone with the same brush here at all the vast majority of Steelers and hockey fans are great and I’ve had amazing weekends in Belfast and the playoff weekend with Steelers fans and it’s certainly not a dig at anyone on here if it came across that way. Just an observation that whenever there’s an altercation at the hockey football always seems to get dragged into it when it’s not relevant rather than just accepting that it’s idiots that have had too much to drink which you get in every fanbase of every sport
Final point, seen the club statement which is good to see and hope that all involved get suitable punishments and certainly never get to watch live hockey again

I agree our fans can be a little impatient with people who seem less interested in the game than us. Maybe we all need a reminder of good etiquette but in any case the arena is not a pub or club.
The stewarding does need to improve. The club does make efforts to make it a family friendly occasion but SIV as venue owners need to play a part too and help to maintain good order.
I doubt those people know how to behave properly wherever they go football, ice hockey, cinema, pub or whatever. Unfortunately some are like that in general but that doesn’t mean we have to tolerate it.

Even with the Clan running Braehead Arena now the past few years, the stewarding hasn't improved a jot, and arguably worse this season. Where stewards take people to seats during play in open areas, while some try to stop people moving on the concourse to their blocks' toilet. So even when the club is in control, it sill isn't a solution, which is baffling to me, but there you go!steeler pete wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 4:29 pmThe club does make efforts to make it a family friendly occasion but SIV as venue owners need to play a part too and help to maintain good order.
