I can't see it personally. I like the idea of an opening weekend to next season with all playoff tickets valid. 5 league games in Nottingham to kick off the season and get the £750k.

Over and above anything else, I would view even this potential alternative at high risk to cancelation as well. Main issue will be regarding imports & any travel restrictions still being in effect. Imports leaving now might not be able to return well beyond the summer, and new imports get in late. Then on the fan side, there are those like me who booked fixed hotels that are technically non-cancellable/refundable and it’s no guarantee all the hotels will either refund, or at least re-book for the new date.

Obviously, this is all a very fluid situation, but I can see merit in the overall idea risks aside.

Start the season with a "magic weekend" in Nottingham. 5 games in 2 days all the opening league fixtures.

Playoff tickets remain valid.

The right decision but it will have serious implication for the league, especially if they have to refund the play off ticket money. I hope they have insurance that covers such an event.

Why would anyone have insurance for fire, theft etc when they have never had a fire or theft before. That's what insurance is for, you don't only take out fire insurance after you've had a fire. Always a first time. Many companies and organisation take out insurance for consequential loss but many don't due to the cost. I hope the EIHL and the clubs have taken out insurance but the probability is they haven't.

It the right thing to do... I expect the remaining games left on the season ticket will be discounted from next year's ticket...

It would be a great gesture from the club to its loyal ST fans that renew year in year out....

Either that or maybe tag the £5 pound games onto the season ticket...

The club seem to generate good crowds with the £5 games.

It would seem do-able let's say loosely speaking money wise, 3 x season ticket games @ £12 total £36
That would cover 6 or 7 £5 games on to anybody renewing their season ticket from this season..

No great money loss from the dramatic end of season shut down and a massive opportunity to maybe promote the games more to recoup the losses knowing you have a decent high percentile of season ticket holders already attending..

How do the smaller clubs with less fans carry on Jay? I can see a few nearly on the brink of collapse due to this.

I think on this occasion its worth the league looking at helping out the smaller clubs by way of smaller league fees or some other subsidiaries at the beginning of next season...

It may even work to lifting some of the player restrictions imposed on teams for next season, that was forcing them to maybe pay higher wages to some British players!
